“Openness doesn’t come from resisting our fears but from getting to know them well.”
― Pema Chödrön, The Places That Scare You: A Guide to Fearlessness in Difficult Times

“we can let the circumstances of our lives harden us so that we become increasingly resentful and afraid, or we can let them soften us and make us kinder and more open to what scares us.”
― Pema Chödrön, The Places That Scare You: A Guide to Fearlessness in Difficult Times

“Anxiety, heartbreak, and tenderness mark the inbetween state. It’s the kind of place we usually want to avoid. The challenge is to stay in the middle rather than buy into struggle and complaint. The challenge is to let it soften us rather than make us more rigid and afraid. Becoming intimate with the queasy feeling of being in the middle of nowhere only makes our hearts more tender. When we are brave enough to stay in the middle, compassion arises spontaneously. By not knowing, not hoping to know, and not acting like we know what’s happening, we begin to access our inner strength.”

Nutrition during pregnancy directly impacts a baby’s brain development. Research shows that women who regularly eat eggs while pregnant give birth to infants with stronger memories, faster learning abilities, and healthier overall brain growth during the first year of life.

Eggs are rich in choline, protein, and essential nutrients that support neural development. Choline, in particular, plays a key role in building memory pathways and enhancing cognitive function. Regular intake provides the developing brain with the building blocks needed for optimal performance.

Babies exposed to these nutrients in utero demonstrate improved attention, faster information processing, and better memory retention compared to peers whose mothers had lower egg consumption. Early brain development sets the foundation for learning, emotional regulation, and problem-solving skills throughout childhood.

Parents can support prenatal brain health by including nutrient-rich foods such as eggs, leafy vegetables, and whole grains in their diets, alongside prenatal vitamins. Balanced nutrition combined with medical guidance ensures both mother and child thrive.

Understanding the connection between maternal diet and infant brain development emphasizes how small daily choices can have lasting benefits. Early nutritional support fosters stronger, healthier brains and gives babies a head start in learning and development.
