🎉 Please join us in celebrating Tonya Zuniga, Physical Therapist at Connally Memorial Medical Center, as our latest Employee Recognition Recipient. 👏

Tonya is known for her compassion, her dedication to patient care, and the meaningful relationships she builds with those she serves. With more than 21 years in Physical Therapy, she continues to make a lasting impact on our patients, our staff, and our community.

We are grateful for the heart she brings to her work each day and the difference she makes at CMMC. 💚

Learn more about Tonya in this recent Q&A.

Q. What inspired you to pursue a career in healthcare?
A. I have always been fascinated by the miracle of the human body. I chose Physical Therapy because I truly enjoy spending meaningful time with my patients, getting to know them, hearing their stories, and being part of their journey. After 21 years, I still love that part of my job.

Q. What are some of your proudest accomplishments in your career so far?
A. I am very proud to have mentored countless students as a clinical instructor. Teaching and watching students grow is incredibly rewarding. I am also proud to have developed specialties in vestibular and concussion rehabilitation, as well as sports and post operative rehabilitation.

Q. How do you stay motivated, or what keeps you passionate about what you do?
A. I have always viewed my career as a ministry. I feel blessed to have a profession where I can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life. If I can help someone regain their quality of life or mobility, and hopefully show them God’s love in the process, that is what drives me. Forming relationships and seeing someone regain something they thought they had lost never gets old.

Q. What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of work?
A. My main hobby right now is being a “sports mom.” I love being active and spending time outdoors, including gardening, hiking, tennis, water activities, and traveling. Most of all, I enjoy spending time with the people I love.
