I do not like having my pictures taken.

I have never had professional pictures taken other than a headshot for work.

I was quite nervous but Jesica Clay Photography was fantastic to work with.

No drama,I did not have to fuss over make up or hair,she gave me suggestions and let me be comfortable and myself which is so important for a website/branding photoshoot.

To add to that she was quick and efficient and got me the pictures back in the time promised.

I found her on Instagram purely by chance but if you are a female business owner in the Dallas area and need a great photographer,you know who to reach out to!

Consistency will always win.

In nutrition.

In sleep.

In habits.

In exercise.

In life.

One "off" day does not derail and one "perfect" day doesn't make a winner.

We all know this, but struggle to stay consistent with all that life throws at us.

That's where having a doctor who can assess, guide, coach, treat and follow up becomes important.

Think about it.

Cyclosporiasis and explosive diarrhea = dehydration, electrolyte loss, and gut flora disruption. NOT any meaningful, sustainable weight loss.

The fact that those 10 lbs are coveted — even if sick, even if jokingly — tells us something about how women have been taught to think about weight, size, and health.

So much to unpack, and we can do so slowly. But for now — stay away from the contaminated foods.

Stay healthy, stay strong.

I thought it was too early to do a podcast,to get in front of people.

I thought-I am not even open yet!

But then, I also knew it was an opportunity,a learning experience,and that being vulnerable is sometimes the strongest thing one can do.As I spoke,I could sense excitement and pride overcome my hesitations.

I hope to be an example for physicians who are contemplating practicing in a more granular,aligned way. But I also have another motive-I want my patients to know me,and understand what I strive for.

I hope they feel the honesty and the truth,and how Anchor is my small resistance against a system that doesn’t leave enough room to truly care for the people who trust us.

July 1st 2003 was when I started residency in the US.
23 years now...

My first day was not a day but a night shift in the ER at Sinai Grace Hospital in Detroit,which is a Level 2 trauma center.l had never worked or even been a patient in a ER in the US.I had no idea of the protocols.All I knew is that this was one month of ER that I had to not only survive, but pass.

It was a hard night.I forgot to document history on a patient, was appalled by the motor vehicle crashes and gun shot wounds that showed up. I tagged along with an attending physician who cursed liberally (not to patients), but my naive ears turned red every single time. I was so anxious and could not have taken a bite of my jam sandwich anyway but was told that breaks were not to be expected. I am sure I did not use the bathroom until l got back home.

There was something called a tweet that reverberated through the ER to mobilize all hands when any unexpected trauma arrived at the ER.To date when the intercom comes on in any public spaces, I feel a twinge of anxiety that the tweeter is going to start.l can't remember much but I remember that two patients died that night.l felt so low and hollow when I went back home the next morning and didn't want to go back ever.But I did.l eventually knew that ER like the back of my hand, made friends and moved on to the next rotation in a month.And I came to love urgent care and minor procedures.

Discomfort shows us what we are capable of....

Rooting for all the new residents of starting this July.

And reminding myself that I can and will do hard things.

People are often surprised when I tell them I don't take insurance.

Here's why-

When insurance runs the visit, doctors have to see more patients, and that decreases the amount of time each patient gets.That's how you end up with a rushed appointment, and a doctor trying to fit everything they can then but spends time on coding and charts hours after the patients leave. I didn't want to practice that way anymore. Neither the patient nor I was winning.

I wanted deliberate care.Discussion of goals. Follow up and Accountability and partnership in my patients' health and wellbeing.
