🚨 You have the right to keep your placenta—even if there is meconium present.

Yesterday, one of my clients was told by her OB that she couldn’t take her placenta home simply because it had meconium on it. That is NOT a contraindication for placenta encapsulation.

Too often, families are told “no” simply because they don’t know their rights. Your placenta belongs to you, and hospitals cannot arbitrarily withhold it because of meconium.

This is why I always encourage expecting parents to learn their hospital’s placenta release policy before birth and be prepared to advocate for themselves. If someone tells you that you can’t keep your placenta, ask why and request the specific hospital policy in writing.

Knowledge is power, and informed parents make confident decisions. 💛
