Sometimes the better question isn’t, “Why can’t I stop?”
It’s, “What am I trying not to feel?”
Compulsive behaviors can become a way to quiet anxiety, escape loneliness, numb painful memories, or create temporary relief. That may involve substances, po*******hy, food, shopping, social media, or other habits that slowly become harder to control.
The behavior may offer comfort for a moment, but eventually it can create shame, isolation, and the feeling that you have lost part of yourself.
You are not defined by the pattern, and you do not have to untangle it alone.
With support, it is possible to understand what the behavior has been protecting you from and begin building healthier ways to cope, connect, and heal.
