June is Wound Care Awareness Month! A time to bring awareness to the importance of specialized wound treatment and healing. 💙🩹

Seeing a wound care specialist early can help promote healing, prevent complications, and improve quality of life. If a wound hasn't improved within a few weeks or shows signs of infection, it may be time to see a wound care specialist.

Throughout June, we'll be sharing education and resources about advanced wound care and how WMS supports patients across every care setting. Call 877.85.WOUND or visit woundmsllc.com to get started. No referral needed.

Gardening and yard work are satisfying and fun, but for older adults or those with fragile, thinning skin, outdoor activity brings a real risk of skin tears that shouldn't be brushed off.

Skin tears happen quickly and often with minimal force, and because they don't always cause significant pain, they're easy to underestimate. Left untreated or improperly managed, even a small tear can become infected or fail to close properly. If you're managing a skin tear that isn't improving, we can help!

Wounds that stall, show signs of infection, or develop in patients with underlying conditions like diabetes, vascular disease, or limited mobility often require a more specialized approach than standard dressing changes can provide. Waiting too long to seek care can allow complications to develop that become harder to treat over time.

If a wound isn’t improving the way it should or if something just doesn’t look right, that’s reason enough to reach out. Call 877.85.WOUND or visit woundmsllc.com to schedule a consultation. No referral needed.

Water plays a critical role in nearly every process involved in healing. It supports circulation, helps deliver nutrients and oxygen to damaged tissue, and keeps skin more resilient and less prone to breakdown. When the body is even mildly dehydrated, those processes slow down, and for patients already managing chronic wounds, that delay can be significant.

As temperatures rise across the South, it’s worth understanding how heat and humidity can affect wound healing.

Heat causes blood vessels to dilate, which can increase swelling and make inflammation worse around a wound site. High humidity can affect how dressings perform and how well the skin around a wound stays intact. If you notice changes in a wound as the weather warms, reach out to WMS for a consultation. No referral needed.
