💙 Meet the Team Monday: Bennett 💙

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on LaShawnda Bennett, CNA & Med Aide! Around here, though, you’ll usually hear us call her simply Bennett!

Bennett has dedicated more than 25 years to healthcare, becoming a CNA in 1999 and spending the last 9 years right here at Diversicare of Foley. Her journey into healthcare was inspired by her mother, who was also a CNA. Watching her mom care for others inspired Bennett to follow in her footsteps, and over the years, she developed a passion for caring for others herself.

One of Bennett’s most memorable experiences at Diversicare was during COVID, when she saw our team come together, support one another, and show what true teamwork looks like during one of the most challenging times in healthcare.

Outside of work, Bennett loves spending time with her family. She is the proud mom of four children and grandmother to an incredible 15 grandchildren! 🥰 She’s especially proud of raising her smart, beautiful children—and if you want to make her day, you can’t go wrong with a Snickers! 🍫

Bennett has also overcome fears along the way, including the fear that she wouldn’t complete school. Today, she has built a career spanning more than two decades while raising a family she is incredibly proud of.

We’re so thankful to have Bennett as part of our Diversicare family. She brings years of experience, dedication, and a genuine heart for caring for others to our residents every day. 💙

💙 Meet the Team Monday:
Shawonda Williams, CNA 💙

Though we are posting a day late in observance of Labor Day, we’re excited to spotlight Shawonda Williams, CNA!

Healthcare has been part of Shawonda’s story for 20 years, and her connection to Diversicare of Foley goes all the way back to the beginning — she received her CNA certification right here in this very building! After spending 13 years away, Shawonda says walking back through our doors felt like coming home. 🏡

For Shawonda, being a CNA is about much more than a job. Her residents have become an extended family, and she takes great pride in knowing that the care she provides can make a difference in someone’s life.

Outside of work, Shawonda loves spending time with family and friends and watching sports…especially football. Roll Tide! 🏈🐘 She is also the proud mother of four grown children and GiGi to three precious grandchildren.

We’re so glad Shawonda found her way back home to Diversicare of Foley. Thank you for the compassion and dedication you bring to our residents each day!

🎉 Congratulations to our September Employee of the Month, Tymekia Mitchell, CNA! 🎉

Tymekia is a valued member of our 2nd Hall team, where she serves our residents as both a CNA and Med Tech. With years of CNA experience, she brings knowledge, compassion, and a helping hand wherever she is needed.

Tymekia is also one of our go-to trainers for new CNAs, helping them learn the ropes and feel confident as they join our team. Her willingness to help others and dedication to our residents do not go unnoticed. 💙

This week, we’re excited to introduce Kim Lester, CNA!

Kim has been a CNA for 20 years and has spent the last 5 years here at Diversicare. Her heart for caregiving is what keeps her going—she truly loves helping others and caring for our residents.

A little more about Kim: She is a proud mom of three children and has one grandbaby. She says she is most proud of her kids and the family she has created.

🌟 Meet the Team Monday: Kesha Dacus, Restorative Aide 🌟

Meet Kesha Dacus, our wonderful Restorative Aide! Kesha has been part of the Diversicare family for 3 years and 10 months and brings an incredible 23 years of CNA experience to our residents. When asked how she would describe a Restorative Aide, Kesha said it's a CNA who helps residents maintain or regain their functional abilities while also finding alternative ways for them to complete their daily tasks. For Kesha, the work is about more than completing a task -- it's about helping residents maintain their abilities and independence while getting to know the person behind the care.

"I genuinely care about the residents. I enjoy getting to know them, helping meet their needs, and knowing that the work I do makes a difference." 💙

Outside of work, Kesha enjoys spending time with her family and friends, relaxing, and loving on her two dogs. She is also the proud mom of two children, a son and a daughter. When asked what she is most proud of, her answer came easily: her children and how independent and headstrong they have become.

Kesha, thank you for the experience, compassion, and dedication you bring to our residents every day. We are glad you are part of our Diversicare team! 👏

🌟 Meet Our Team Monday: Meet Cora! 🌟

If you’ve visited Diversicare of Foley during the week, you probably already know Cora! She’s one of the first friendly faces you’ll see when you walk through our doors.

Cora has been part of our team for 8 years and loves having conversations with our residents and families. She enjoys getting to know the people who come through the front doors and says there’s a lot more to being a receptionist than people may realize. As one of the first people visitors meet, Cora has the responsibility of being the “face” of Diversicare of Foley. She hopes everyone who walks through our doors always feels safe and respected.

When she’s not at the front desk, Cora enjoys going to church, shopping, and sometimes just lounging around and relaxing. She has five children, was married for 31 years, and is now widowed.

And if anyone is wondering where to take Cora… her dream vacation is Hawaii! 🌺🏝️

After eight years, Cora says she still enjoys working here—and we certainly enjoy having her as part of our Diversicare family! 💙
