This month, I turn 70, and my heart is full of joy as I consider all that God has done. Thirty-five years ago, God gave me a dream about what He wanted to do in Folsom. He showed me a place that would bring His light, hope, and power to the greater Sacramento area. Iâve watched my frightened âYes, Lordâ become the gateway to a future I never could have imagined.
Today, I am overwhelmed by what God has built. Powerhouse has housing and recovery programs for up to 59 men, women, children, and teens! We have facilities that reflect the dignity and worth of every person who walks through our doors. Our dedicated team of staff and volunteers makes Powerhouse a place where people who once felt alone find family, hope, and tools for lasting change. Generous donors invest their resources to make sure that those who want to change have the opportunity to change. An entire generation is walking out of addiction, abuse, incarceration, and homelessness and into lives of freedom, purpose, and wholeness.
And I believe He is still writing the story.
As I celebrate my 70th birthday, I can't think of a greater gift than making room for more lives to be transformed. My birthday wish is to raise $700,000 by the end of this year to help complete construction of The Living Room at Powerhouse Ministries. I'm inviting you to consider a gift of $70, $700, $7,000, or even $70,000 toward our $700,000 goal. Every gift, no matter the size, brings us closer to opening these doors.
For 35 years, I've watched God use ordinary people and extraordinary generosity to accomplish what once seemed impossible. I believe He will do it again. Will you celebrate with me by helping build a place where more people can find hope, healing, and family?
