Did you know that as of July 1st, 2026 the state of Florida mandates that all high school student athletes must have an EKG performed along side their sports physicals to be able to participate in sports? While CA has not passed any laws requiring an EKG, our pediatricians at Rainbow Kids Urgent Care have always strongly supported EKG’s with all sports physical exams. Sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death among high school athletes. A general sports physical exam checks for a lot of things, however it can miss a hidden heart condition.

At RKUC, we offer 2 options for sports physicals, but encourage parents to opt for the exam plus EKG. We even have an in-house, pediatric cardiologist that reads all of our EKGs!

The new school year is just around the corner and sports programs are starting up in a couple of weeks. Come in to RKUC to get your sports physicals (with EKG) at your convenience. Walk-ins are always welcome, or join our online queue from home.

📢Attention RKUC Parents! We need your input‼️

As Rainbow Kids Urgent Care continues to grow, we are already thinking ahead to make sure we can provide timely, high-quality care during the busy winter months.

Our promise has always been physician-led pediatric care, but similar to other areas in the country, pediatrician shortages are a real concern. One option we’re considering is having an experienced pediatric PA or NP work alongside our pediatricians (never independently) to help with straightforward illnesses while a pediatrician remains on site and available for every patient.

We’d love to hear your thoughts.

Which option would you prefer?

• Every child is seen by a pediatrician only, even if wait times are longer.
• I’m comfortable with a PA/NP for simple concerns if a pediatrician is on site and involved as needed.
• I would like to be given the option. It depends on the reason for the visit.

📢Cuteness alert‼️

Are you familiar with Bears By Your Side? Because we follow them on social media, we are very familiar with what this wonderful organization does for the children in our local communities. Today, we had the honor of accepting some adorable handmade bears for the children in our care. 😊

There are times when having to go to an urgent care can be stressful for kids, especially when they aren’t feeling well or are hurt or injured. We have to conduct thorough exams, collect specimens for tests, and/or perform procedures that can be worrisome for some of our young patients. Our healthcare team relies on having items that can help comfort and support our patients during these times. We also have a treasure box full of fun items that our patients look forward to at the end of every visit. These bears are going to bring so much joy in both instances.

Bears by Your Side is an amazing nonprofit that started when a young boy by the name of Cruz wanted to make a difference in the lives of children in crisis. We are very excited to introduce Dr. Zainab Ajeena to our RKUC families! Dr. Ajeena is joining our team of amazing physicians as a per diem doctor, helping to provide expert pediatric care that our families deserve.

Dr. Ajeena is a dedicated pediatrician committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care for children from infancy through adolescence. She earned her medical degree from the University of Jordan in 2008 and completed her pediatric residency training at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in 2015.

Since completing her residency, Dr. Ajeena has been practicing pediatrics and is passionate about helping children achieve their healthiest and happiest lives. She values building strong relationships with families and partnering with parents to support their children’s growth, development, and well-being.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Ajeena enjoys spending time with her family. She is happily married and the proud mother of two wonderful daughters. Her hobbies include hiking, swimming, biking, listening to music, and traveling.

Dr. Ajeena is honored to care for her patients and looks forward to supporting families in their healthcare journey.

Hi all,
I just wanted to say we are so grateful to have such an amazing pediatric urgent care in town. Isabella has seen every single doctor and we have been impressed with all of them. Your doctors and staff are so caring and compassionate. Also, the type of testing available for children is amazing and I have never found an urgent care that could test for so many illnesses at once for littles. I can’t thank you all enough for caring for Isabella. We would never have figured out she has {hidden for patient privacy} if it weren’t for the thorough and thoughtful treatment of your entire team.
Isabella always feels comfortable with all the providers and staff... the snacks and juice are also a plus! Lol.
