Reclaim your attention. Reclaim your life.

This month, we’re inviting our community to join us for Digital Discipline — a simple challenge to become more intentional with technology and more present for what matters most.

You don’t have to follow all 10 principles perfectly. Start with one. Try a few. Adapt them to fit your life and your family. Whether you adopt one habit or embrace all ten, we believe you’ll discover something valuable along the way.

Small changes can create powerful results:
✨ Better sleep
✨ More focus
✨ Less stress
✨ Stronger relationships
✨ More time for the things that truly matter

We’ll be practicing right alongside you.

Who’s in for a month of greater awareness, better health, and a little more real life?

Welcome to Week 3: Healthspan

We often think of healthspan in terms of exercise, nutrition, and supplements.

But what if one of the biggest threats to our long-term health is something we carry in our pockets every day?

Modern life keeps us in a constant state of stimulation.

Notifications.
Messages.
News.
Entertainment.
Endless scrolling.

Our brains were never designed for a world that demands our attention every waking moment.

The result?

More stress.
Poorer sleep.
Reduced recovery.
Impaired metabolic health.
Less meaningful human connection.

These small daily exposures compound over time, subtly shaping the trajectory of our health.

And perhaps nowhere is this more evident than loneliness.

Nearly half of American adults report feeling lonely, a condition associated with increased risks of heart disease, stroke, dementia, depression, and premature death.

The issue isn’t technology itself.

It’s when stimulation replaces restoration.
When distraction replaces connection.
When convenience replaces community.

Healthspan is not simply about adding years to life.

It’s about preserving the physical, emotional, and social foundations that allow us to fully live those years.

Reclaim your attention.

Your health depends on it.

Protecting Childhood in a Digital World

The Problem Isn’t Just Individual.

It’s Collective.

Many parents know smartphones and social media are hurting kids but feel trapped because “everyone else is doing it.”

That’s a collective action problem!

The Research Is Clear
Phone-based childhood is linked to:

* higher anxiety
* worse sleep
* less free play
* weaker social development
* increased loneliness

Children need real-world experiences
more than digital stimulation!

What Actually Helps?
Jonathan Haidt recommends communities move together:

* Delay smartphones
* Delay social media
* Encourage free play
* Create phone-free schools
* Build real-world friendships

Small coordinated changes
create massive cultural shifts.

Protecting childhood starts with
adults willing to go first.

Let’s develop together.

ATTUNEMENT

One of nature’s most magical, developmental motivators - Attunement - brings children to synchronize or “tune into” the physical and emotional states of those around them.

If these incredible opportunities and experiences for social interaction are “blocked,” not only will they lose the ability to effectively understand others emotionally, they’ll lose that connection to themselves.

The Lost Art of Free Play

Children were never designed to grow up staring at screens.

For thousands of years, play helped young humans — and other mammals — develop resilience, creativity, emotional regulation, and social skills.

Now, smartphones often replace exploration with passive entertainment.

The result?
Less free play.
More anxiety.
Less real-world development.

Maybe the answer is simpler than we think:

More boredom.
More sunlight.
More movement.
More adventure.
More real life.

Social media does not just correlate with mental illness - it causes it. Overprotection in the real world alongside underprotection in the virtual world are the major reasons why children born after 1995 became the anxious generation.

We’ve seen a sharp rise in anxiety, depression and self-harm adolescents, with young girls hit the hardest.

Change begins with awareness, but it grows through intentional leadership in our homes, our habits, and our relationships. Every generation is shaped by what it gives its attention to.

We still have the opportunity to lead this one well.

Week 2 — The Ripple Effect

Children were designed to explore.
To fall.
To problem solve.
To get bored.
To imagine.
To become resilient.

But we are raising the first generation in history to spend more time with screens than with unstructured play, face-to-face connection, and stillness.

And the effects are showing:
Anxiety.
Loneliness.
Emotional dysregulation.
Attention fragmentation.
Disconnection.

This isn’t about shame.
It’s about awareness.

Because what we normalize today becomes the nervous system of the next generation tomorrow.

The good news?
Small changes ripple too.

More presence.
More conversation.
More sunlight.
More boredom.
More life beyond the screen.

Digital Discipline isn’t about rejecting technology.
It’s about reclaiming what makes us human.

“No man is free who is not master of himself.” — Epictetus

We protect our homes, our money, and our health. But many of us leave our attention completely unguarded.

The stoics believed freedom begins with self-mastery.
Today, that battle lives in your pocket.

Digital discipline matters. Know your stats.

Social Media & the Sympathetic Response

The research is becoming difficult to ignore.

Heavy social media use is impacting:
attention,
sleep,
stress,
focus,
creativity,
mental health —
and even the way our brains function.

Many of us are living in a chronic low-grade stress response without ever realizing it.

Awareness changes everything.

Because once you see what your environment is doing to you…you get to choose differently.
