People often think they need the fanciest and newest toys and therapy supplies to support their child’s development. But that's not true! You can use the toys you currently have, along with regular household items as well. Narrating and talking about what you are doing and what your child is doing is one of the greatest tools you can use!
Exposing them to language, which includes vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, prosody, rate, and so much more, can help further their development. While you are cooking dinner, describe and talk [out loud] about what you are doing - “Now I am going to cut the carrots into small pieces..
When you are taking a walk with your child, describe what they are looking at - “I see that big brown dog too! He is running so FAST!” Even narrate what they may be thinking, based on what is happening around them - “Ouch! You bumped your head; that hurt!”
Trust me when I say that you cannot expose your child to too much language.
