GLP-1s
Let’s talk about it…

I have to get this off my chest, because glp-1s have been such a point of contention in my brain. So I’m just going to say it.

This feels like another fad diet. And yet another way that providers can take more of your money without teaching long term health.

Do I think they can be beneficial for some people? Yes. Do I think some people are truly making the lifestyle changes they need to, to sustain the changes? Yes.
But I’m also seeing a lot of people using glp-1s as a quick fix for weight loss.

Yes I do think metabolic health is a problem for majority of people right now, and yes these meds can help, however lifestyle changes still need to be made. I fear Doctors prescribing them aren’t driving that point home to their patients.

I’ve listed ways to support your body and long term health in the graphic below. GLP-1s aren’t a quick fix. If you want sustained weight loss and health, lifestyle changes still need to be made.

Ladies, join us over on the private group (Temple Of Her Goddesses) to join in on discussions for all things women’s health.

A few weeks ago I saw 4 concerts in 2 days, by 2 of my favorite bands. When I had to sit during parts of both concerts day 2, and couldn’t boogie down like I normally do, I knew something needed to change.

I realized in college how much muscle imbalance I had all through out my body from competitive cheerleading. I just never spent enough time trying to correct it, and I know if I don’t handle it soon I’m going to pay for it later.

I told y’all I don’t accept the narrative that we have to be in pain and collect diseases as we age.

So instead I created a workout focusing on mobility and strengthening to activate sleepy muscles from the imbalances and keep lasting results by strengthening within the new ranges.

I’m sore but I’m already noticing changes and I’m only in week 2!

The gym became an escape and coping mechanism for me, and thats why I opened Temple Of Her.

Lifting weights is a way that I’ve moved through my emotions. Anger and frustration, I lifted heavy. Sadness and grief, I lifted for endurance. Happiness and joy, I lifted for muscle building.

I first realized the gym was a place to shut my brain off in high school. But instead of a regular gym it was my all star cheer gym.
I lost my brother to su***de when I was 15, which was extremely heavy as I’m sure you can imagine. My cheer gym was the one place I could escape the grief and turn it off for a while.

As life has gone on and I’ve gone through other major life changes and traumatic experiences, the gym continued to be a place for me to cope and move through my emotions.

You best believe I’ve even cried in the gym before…

And this is one of the reasons Temple Of Her has come to be. As women we naturally take on everything and end up storing emotions in our bodies. Movement can be such an important tool to move through those emotions and feelings. And having a safe space to do just that is like nothing else.

When I cried in the gym, I was surrounded by men and of course I tried to hide it. I can only imagine how much better it would have felt to have a safe space to truly let go of everything I was feeling in that moment.

My hope is that every woman that joins Temple Of Her feels that sense of safety, to let go of everything that no longer serves her, to become the highest and best version of herself.

You might think I’m crazy and I’m prepared to get some push back on this belief, but I will not subscribe to the belief that our bodies decline as we age to the point of frailty, sickness and disease.

Yes obviously our bodies do decline as we age, however, because I believe that taking care of your body through a balanced diet, exercise and having the right mindset we can slow that process down.

A lot of people will say “oh it’s just genetics” when they get sick or see someone else live a long life. I do and don’t agree. Because yes we can be predispositioned for certain diseases however with taking care of our bodies, that doesn’t always have to be true.

I’m relearning this again as I’m getting back to my own health. I have longevity in my family. A great grandma who lived to be 105, and grandparents who lived to be 98, 96 and 92. For the most part I have felt fairly healthy throughout my life.

However over the last couple years that hasn’t always been the case. I’ve been struggling with gut issues, overall tiredness, body aches, hormonal issues. And anyone I tell that to the answer is always “oh that’s called getting older.” But I find as soon as I’m even slightly consistent in taking care of myself again I can see major difference in how I feel.

What you think and believe creates your reality. And with consistency in better health practices, you’ll start feeling like the best version of you.

How many times have you started your health journey and feel like you failed because you got off track?

I know I’ve done it!

But here’s the thing. You didn’t fail, life happened. As it often does and will continue to do sometimes. When we focus on the positive, “getting back up” or in this case getting back on the health journey, it gets easier every time life starts to get in the way again.

So, get back to it Goddess. Your health is waiting for you.

What ripple effect? You may be asking…

When you start taking care of yourself you start giving your subconscious mind the proof that you’re worth good things. That ripple starts to spill over into all areas of your life.

We as women tend to put everyone else before ourselves. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, I think that’s just in our nature and it’s beautiful how selfless we women are. However, sometimes we take it way too far and forget about our own well being.
It really is true, the saying that goes “you can’t fill from an empty cup.” Because when ours is empty how are we supposed to spill over into others?

When you start moving your body, you start to feel good. When you start to feel good, you’re happier. When you’re happier, that rubs off on others.
That right there is my kind of ripple effect!

You wanna test your love for your body, and really practice loving your body instead of picking it apart? Buy this set, in this color.
I’m loving this set. It’s so cute and flattering, but I won’t lie I put it on and immediately my mind went to criticism mode. I have a lil belly, guess what I have cellulite too.
I think it’s the color of this set that makes you see every lump, bump and “flaw”. I say “flaw” in quotes because all of those things are everything that society has told us to hate about our bodies. It’s been ingrained in our brains that they need to be a certain way to be beautiful, desirable and good enough.
I’m in tears typing this because my heart aches for every woman who has been fed this story and now struggles with self love because of it.
You know what? F**k that! It doesn’t have to be that way.
Let’s rewrite the story. Because I believe that radical self love, and accepting our bodies in every form will change everything. Our bodies have carried us through so much. Let’s celebrate that.

Come home to yourself goddess, it’s life changing.
