Excuse us while we brag on our team a little!
Treating a ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) requires a series of time-critical, highly coordinated steps that must occur within minutes of a patient’s arrival to the Emergency Department. Early recognition and rapid intervention are essential to restore coronary blood flow, limit myocardial damage, and improve survival outcomes. Achieving a Door-In-Door-Out (DIDO) time of less than 30 minutes demands seamless teamwork, rapid decision-making, and exceptional coordination across all roles.
Equally critical is ensuring the patient reaches a PCI-capable facility within 90 minutes, as timely reperfusion directly links to improved survival and reduced cardiac damage.
At Dallas County Medical Center (DCMC), our Emergency Department team rose to that challenge. Through outstanding collaboration, urgency, and commitment to excellence, the team (Brandi Phillips, RN, Crystal Matlock, RN, Brandon Phillips, RN and Rodney Walker, RN) achieved a DIDO time of 30 minutes, meeting a critical benchmark that directly impacts patient survival and recovery. This accomplishment reflects the dedication, skill, and teamwork of ALL our staff, and highlights the high level of care we strive to provide every patient, every time.
