When your parent comes home from the hospital, don't assume everything is in order. Check medications against the doctor's orders โ dosages, frequencies, and insurance coverage can all be wrong. Verify that DME supplies actually match the equipment. Don't take it for granted that the CHHA will communicate properly with you or the LHCSA providing the aide. And don't assume your parent's doctors are talking to one another โ call the offices and nag until you have a coordinated team. Assertiveness isn't optional here; it's essential.
