Honor. Reflect. Remember.

Today, we pause to pay tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. May their memory inspire us to support and uplift one another, continuing to build a community rooted in compassion and respect.

Let's also take a moment to express gratitude to all the veterans and active-duty service members who continue to safeguard our liberties.

Have a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

This month is a reminder that your mental health matters every single day, not just when things feel heavy.

It’s okay to rest. It’s okay to ask for help. It’s okay to not have it all together.

There is strength in speaking up, reaching out, and taking care of your mental health just like you would your physical health.

Thank you to all our staff who continue to create safe spaces where people feel heard, supported, and valued without judgment.

Riveredge Hospital was proud to host the Chicagoland Business Development team for a collaborative training with our sister facilities - Hartgrove Behavioral Health System, Garfield Park Behavioral Hospital, and Streamwood Behavioral Healthcare System.

With new talent joining the Chicagoland team, this training focused on strengthening interactions, expanding our networking, and refining our messaging to maximize our community impact.

Grateful for the collaboration and excited to build on this momentum driving our business development efforts to the next level.

We started mental health awareness month at “You Belong Here” a youth mental health conference hosted by iCan Dream Center focused on helping young people build confidence, connection, and a path forward.

The event also brought together several leaders who work with adolescent and young adults providing them with the tools to work close in hand with adolescents and young adults who are struggling to cope.

Thank you to our partners at iCan Dram Center for allowing us to be part of your movement.

This month reminds us of our responsibility to deepen our understanding, challenge misconceptions and embrace neurodiversity as an important component of our society.

Acceptance for individuals who are on the spectrum can help them and their families feel seen, valued and empowered. Understanding the unique needs and contributions of these individuals promotes holistic well-being for everyone.

Things you can do:

Dispel myths
Provide accurate, up-to-date information
Celebrate differences
Reduce stigma
Foster empathy

With a better understanding of neurodiversity, we can build stronger support networks, reduce barriers and improve their overall experiences. If someone you know can benefit from additional support, we are here with specialized treatment.

We love seeing our space filled with opportunities to learn and collaborate! A huge thank you to the Illinois Continuity of Care Association for hosting their Western Cook monthly meeting in our gymnasium. Bringing community leaders together face-to-face is exactly what strengthens collaboration and connection.

We are proud to announce that Riveredge has gone live with Cerner an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) – a milestone made possible following months of planning, training and collaboration.

The EMR system will continue to support our goal of high patient quality care by enhancing documentation, advancing the exchange of patient information, and improving efficiency throughout the facility.

Our Cerner Go-Live celebration was full of excitement with music, raffles, and of course cake! Thank you to all our staff, Cerner employees, and UHS corporate leaders who joined us in commemorating this achievement.

This week, we celebrate the power of Creative Arts Therapy!

Art therapy serves as a profound avenue for expression and healing. As this week comes to an end, we want to highlight our dedicated Creative Arts Therapists who use various forms of creative expression such as art, music, dance, recreation, and drama as therapeutic tools to help our patients address their cognitive, communicative and emotional needs.

By celebrating Creative Arts Therapy Week, we can continue to advocate for creative support in mental health treatment!

Earlier this month, as we celebrate Women’s History Month, the women in our Business Development team attended a Women’s Luncheon hosted by Dr. Evisha Ford founder of the iCan Dream Center.

During the event, several women were recognized for their support of the work done by the center. Seeing these amazing women recognized and honored for their strength, leadership, and impact was one of the most rewarding parts of the day.

To every woman who attended, thank you for showing up with open hearts, thoughtful reflections, and a willingness to share space with one another. The conversations, laughter, wisdom, and quiet moments of reflection remind us of how powerful it is when women gather with intention. Each of you helped create a room filled with connection, encouragement, and strength.
