Here at Power and Grace PT we LOVE celebrating our patients’ accomplishments. To start off 2026 with a bang, Dom took FIRST place in The Frosty 50 race (50K distance). He gives all Glory to God!

While we love seeing our athletes not only participate but do well in events that matter to them, we also love getting to know them and seeing there integrity and their character shine through. One of the greatest gifts as we work with patients 1:1 is to really get to know the people we are partnering with.

Often our character and what we are really made of shines through when we face afflictions and adversity. No matter what life throws at Dom, he gets back up. And to us, that is worth celebrating even more than any race finish.

Dom hopes to continue racing this season with several races coming up, and we hope we get the privilege of watching him CRUSH those events! We are also thankful for the privilege to know Dom on a personal level, and partner with him on the journey of eliminating pain, maximizing his performance and building resilience to perform for life.

Dom is an amazing runner, human being, and coach. If you’re looking for a great running coach and a stellar human being to help you achieve your running goals…. in our opinion, Dom is your guy. You can find him on IG or his website .coachdomrose.com

The Overlooked Importance of Lumbar Endurance in Runners ‼️‼️‼️‼️

Runners often focus on shoes, mileage, and leg strength—but lumbar muscle endurance is just as essential for efficient, pain-free miles. Your lower-back extensors help maintain upright posture, stabilize the pelvis, and control how forces move through the body with every stride.

When these muscles fatigue, runners tend to compensate with increased trunk lean, reduced pelvic control, and less efficient mechanics. This not only affects running economy but also increases stress on the knees, hips, and lumbar spine—often showing up as late-run stiffness or low-back discomfort.

Building strong lumbar endurance supports better posture, smoother load transfer, and greater resilience on longer runs. For runners looking to improve performance and reduce injury risk, paying attention to the endurance of the lower-back muscles is a simple but powerful place to start.

Need help improving your pain with running? Or your mechanics to improve your performance? We’d love to work with you!

🌟 Using a Slant Board to Improve Squat Depth & Rehab Patellar Tendinopathy 🌟

If you’re dealing with patellar tendinopathy (“jumper’s knee”), you might notice pain or tightness at the front of the knee—especially during squats, stairs, or running. One powerful tool in rehab? 👉 The slant board. Here we are using our favorite slant board: the V-Stack slant board from

🔹 Why use a slant board?
A slant board elevates the heels, allowing you to:

· Achieve greater squat depth while maintaining an upright torso

· Shift load away from the hips and more effectively target the quadriceps

· Reduce compensations like early heel lift or hip-dominant movement patterns

🔹 How it helps the tendon:
Eccentric and slow, heavy-load squats on a slant board have been shown to stimulate tendon remodeling, improve tendon capacity, and gradually decrease pain.

🔹 How to use it:

1. Stand with heels elevated on the slant board (30–45° incline).

2. Perform slow, controlled squats — aim for 3–5 seconds down, 2 seconds up.

3. Start with body weight, progress to holding a dumbbell or barbell.

4. Perform 3–4 sets of 10–12 reps, 3-4x/week as part of your tendon loading program.

💡 Pro tip: Pain up to a mild/moderate level (≤5/10) during exercise is acceptable if it subsides in less than 24 hours — consistency and progressive loading are key for tendon rehab.

If you’ve been struggling with knee pain that limits your training, this simple addition can make a huge difference in restoring pain-free strength and mobility. 💪
