Womack Army Medical Center welcomes Col. Kane Morgan and Command Sgt. Maj. Jackie Mims as they officially assume leadership of the Womack team today!

Authority was formally transferred during a Change of Command and Assumption of Responsibility Ceremony at the All American entrance of the hospital. Col. Stephanie Mont relinquished command to Col. Morgan, and Command Sgt. Maj. Mims assumed responsibility as the senior enlisted leader, in a ceremony presided over by Brig. Gen. James “Jamie” Burk, Commanding General, Medical Readiness Command East.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Col. Mont for her expert leadership and dedication to our People. Under her tenure, Womack successfully passed its Joint Commission survey, maintained its Leapfrog "A" safety grade rating, and achieved re-verification as a Level III Trauma Center, while expanding care to 6,300 additional patients, veterans, and retirees.

Please join us in welcoming the Morgan and Mims families to the team and thanking Col. Mont for her incredible legacy of service.

This year, the Military Health System is celebrating 250 years of America by recognizing military medicine’s enduring history of innovation and impact to the warfighter.

Korean War medical personnel who received the honor include Army Pfc. Bryant Homer Womack, who, despite being struck by enemy fire, “insisted that all efforts be made for the benefit of others that were wounded,” the citation reads. Womack Army Medical Center is named in his honor.
