For the past month, our amazing patients have been casting their votes, and we are so grateful for every single one. Voting is open through September 1, and we'd be honored to have your support!

Nothing means more to us than hearing about your experience. Here's what one of our wonderful patients, Barbara C., had to say:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
"This office is outstanding. I walked in and was warmly greeted. The waiting room is decorated tastefully and is calming. The dental hygienist was knowledgeable, friendly, and gentle. My dentist was so kind and professional. She explained my X-rays and plan of care and explained to me what we needed to do next. I had a super positive experience. I would not go anywhere else!"

Barbara, thank you for your kind words! ❤️ Reviews like yours are the reason we love caring for our Northern Colorado community.

Last week, Dr. Kittell spent her time away from the office serving patients at Chanku Waste Ranch on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.

Home to the Oglala Lakota Nation, Pine Ridge faces significant challenges, including high poverty and unemployment rates, as well as limited access to healthcare. Chanku Waste Ranch began as a free summer camp for local children and has grown into a wellness center that provides free dental and optometry services, parenting classes, and support aimed at restoring hope and strengthening families.

Throughout the week, Dr. Kittell volunteered her dental expertise, helping provide much-needed care to members of the community. We are incredibly proud of her dedication to serving others and living out the spirit of compassionate care both inside and outside our office.

Thank you, Dr. Kittell, for making a difference and helping create healthier smiles where they are needed most. ❤️

🌿 Oral Health Month — Week 2: Dry Mouth (Xerostomia) 🦷💧

Chronic dry mouth isn’t just “feeling thirsty.” It’s a medical condition called xerostomia, and it happens when your mouth doesn’t produce enough saliva.

Saliva plays a huge role in protecting your teeth and gums. It helps wash away food particles, neutralize acids, and keep harmful bacteria under control. When saliva is reduced, your oral health can change quickly.

Common causes include medications, dehydration, stress, certain medical conditions, and aging.

You may notice:
• A sticky or dry feeling in your mouth
• Trouble swallowing or speaking comfortably
• Increased cavities or tooth sensitivity
• Cracked lips or a dry throat
• Bad breath that doesn’t improve with brushing

Left untreated, dry mouth can increase your risk for cavities, gum disease, and oral discomfort.

The good news: there are ways to help manage it. Hydration, saliva-stimulating habits, and targeted dental products can make a big difference.

If you’re noticing symptoms, it’s worth bringing up at your next visit—we can often help identify the cause and improve comfort quickly.

🌿 Hello June — Oral Health Month Begins 🦷💙

Most people think of oral health as just teeth and gums—but your mouth is deeply connected to your entire body.

When gum health breaks down, it doesn’t stay local. Inflammation and bacteria in the mouth can affect overall health in meaningful ways.

Research has shown links between oral health and several systemic conditions, including:

❤️ Heart health — Gum disease has been associated with increased risk of Cardiovascular Disease, largely due to inflammation in the body.

🩸 Diabetes — Oral inflammation and Diabetes Mellitus can affect each other in a two-way relationship, making both harder to control when one is unmanaged.

🔥 Inflammation — Chronic gum disease can contribute to ongoing systemic inflammation, which impacts multiple body systems over time.

🤰 Pregnancy health — Poor oral health has been associated with pregnancy complications, including risks related to preterm birth and maternal inflammation.

This is why bleeding gums, persistent bad breath, or untreated gum issues shouldn’t be ignored—they can be early warning signs of something bigger.

✨ Taking care of your mouth is taking care of your whole body.

All month long, we’ll be sharing simple, practical ways to support a healthier smile—and a healthier you.
