The Faulty Wiring Diaries I'm a mom with Celiac, MCAS, SFN, POTS, Dysautonomia, & Vestibular Migraine, who receives IVIG. You're not alone; let's make invisible illness visible.

I have 20 years of research experience, to offer support, help educate, & spread awareness.

How are you all doing today?

Each time I go through another episode of: why are my symptoms changing?

Why am I starting to feel awful again, AGAIN?!?!?!!! AGAIN?!??!!

The Cycle of Grief starts all over again.

It is completely normal for people living with , , , and to grieve the life that we thought we were going to live.

To grieve the life that we are still wanting to live.

To grieve the life that we were wanting for our children, for our spouses, and our families.

To grieve the body that we once had.

To grieve the life that we once had.

To grieve the friends that we have lost.

To grieve everything that is just so different than what we were expecting our life to turn out to be and what we were expecting it to end as.

I feel like I come to terms with all of these above issues and then WHAMMY, my body decides to throw another wrench into the fire.

So here I am again, trying to pick up my pieces.

Rewrite my present and my future again.

Trying to find another diagnosis, digging, and reading.

Trying to make my kiddos future health better by finding out answers today.

Trying to hold on to any sense of self that I still have left.

This is how I've been feeling lately. My symptoms are definitely manifesting and changing; I have felt worse than I have felt in years. I have had to greatly increase my salt intake to feel better each day, what does this mean? Have they missed a diagnosis? I am still looking for a better diagnosis. Research, research, as I learn I will pass it on to you all.

Feeling good today, so far...here's my Daily To-Do-List.

I haven't done one of these in a while, as I just haven't felt good enough to commit to anything.

Let's give it a chance today.

I hope you all are well and hanging in there too. -M

When I was first diagnosed with Vestibular Migraine, and prior to getting my pain under control, I can't tell you how many times I went to my dentist complaining of my left back tooth.

I was convinced it was bad, needed to be pulled, needed a root canal, a crown, anything, it just HURT SO BAD.

I cried, begged, plead, thank goodness she stuck to her guns and kept telling me my tooth was fine and it was my migraine.

I still have my tooth because off her, thank you Dr. L.

TOOTH PAIN from MIGRAINE PAIN is a real thing and leads to many teeth being pulled or having unnecessary dental work done to them every year.

I have been on many forums where migraine sufferers have had teeth pulled only to find out years later that the tooth most likely had been fine, it was in fact pain being refracted from their migraine to their tooth.

Make sure it's your tooth having a problem and not a migraine playing tricks on you.

Allergy Shot day today. I hope they go well, I’ve not been feeling good; hence my lack of posting. Three hours in my room, I was told today it was their tornado shelter room. At least I know I’m safe if there’s a tornado 🌪️.

I hope you all had a good weekend.

I’ve included a photo of our two ducks from last spring, Anastasia (female white, Runner) and Ivy (female Khaki Campbell). They make wonderful sentries for our small flock of chickens and work well with our tiny Roos to wrangle everyone into the coop/shelter at night or in bad weather. I never would have thought that different species would work in tandem like that. At night they wait outside the coop quietly quacking and pacing back and forth until we come to lock the doors up. They won’t let anyone out once they have entered. It’s an amazingly intelligent dance that they have developed with our Roos to also become guardians of our hens. 💕

Good Morning and Happy Friday!

Today is IVIG day. I’ll have a day to renew my faith in humanity.

Nurse N is off to help another fellow, “pin cushion,” today.

I’m excited because I get to see Mr. T he has been one of my favorite nurses since the beginning of my IVIG adventures. I haven’t seen him in a while.

Off to get ready for the day. -M

I’ve added a photo of Juno, our second dog; she’s a cardigan corgi, and a silly old girl who loves to roll in the dirt. I feel often she’s more dirt than dog.

My first signs of a migraine coming are my right eye watering, just the outside corner, it's so annoying; then extreme light sensitivity, then sound sensitivity, and the pain, then I just become overwhelmed with overstimulation.

What do you all experience that's not on this list?

How can I add to it?

Yesterday at the cardiologist I had an appointment with my doctor; a person that I have seen twice before over the last three years.

An interesting person, an unempathetic person to those who don't fit the mold of the type of cardiac medicine they treat.

I had to go because this person was the gateway to get a referral to the POTS and Dysautonomia specialist in their office (which I did get, only after asking for it, and asking for it to be put in my file that the doctor wasn't going to give me a referral).

The only bureaucratic reason this person was the gateway was because I hadn't been seen in the office for over a year; previous visits with this person had left a bad taste in my mouth also, I should have listened then.

Even though I had been called the night before to make sure I would show up at 7:30 for my 7:45 appointment, I was told that was when the doctor would be there to see me, I was put in a room to sit and not seen until 8:10. This was the first appointment of the day; I quickly realized the doctor had no intentions of helping me with any of my new symptoms.

In fact, I was given a lecture about how POTS is used to group a bunch of symptoms into one category that other doctors don't know what to do with; they get sent to cardiologists to figure out what is going on and that is not a cardiologist's job, maybe I should see a neurologist.

It was at this point that I realized this doctor had not even taken the time to look at my file (I have been seeing a since 2017); that this doctor had made their mind up when they saw my PCP's recommendation that I most likely was/had developed POTS and they were coming at me with their opinion.

This doctor was not there to help me, not there to treat me, not there to empathize, or to do their JOB that they took an oath for.

This is WHY chronically ill patients delay seeing doctors when they are sick or have new symptoms, this is why we develop "medical gaslighting" and "medical trauma;" it's because of experiences with doctors just like this that dismiss us, belittle us, don't listen, make us feel small, and why, for what is their end game?

I'm sure this doctor didn't even remember our interaction last night; I did, my eyes swollen from crying, my migraine that I still have today.

All I have to say is if you take the oath to be a doctor, we as your patients rely on you to help us, guide us, and offer us the empathy that we deserve; just like you, we are only human beings. -M

Late last night I was able to snag an earlier canceled cardiologist appointment! 7:30 am today, I feel so lucky, from March 24th to today!

I’ve been feeling awful, I hope he can help a bit or at least get me in with a specialist sooner.

The idea that I had to wait to see my cardiologist only to be referred out to another POTS specialist was so aggravating. The universe answered me.

Have a great Wednesday everyone. -M

I have added a photo of our cat, Wednesday, in honor of the day today. Stop petting her if her tail twitches, as she’ll most likely bite you! 🐈‍⬛

This morning this is how I felt, other worldly. Dysautonomia can cause a person's body and brain to feel and react to our environment in such a way that it feels like we aren't even present in our own skin.
I don't even need psychedelics I just need to let my salts get too low...😝
