We’re proud to introduce another dedicated member of our Therapy Center team—meet Meagan Dechaine, DPT!

Originally from Madawaska and a graduate of Husson University, Meagan says “I enjoy the challenge of connecting the dots between someone's symptoms, lifestyle, and goals. No two patients are the same, which keeps me learning and growing every day.”

“One of my favorite things about living and working in this community is the strong sense of connection and resilience. People here value hard work, family, and supporting one another, and I've seen that firsthand during my time working here. It's rewarding to help neighbors stay healthy and active so they can continue doing the things they love, from working and spending time with family to enjoying all that Northern Maine has to offer outdoors.”

At Northern Maine Medical Center’s Therapy Center, providers like Meagan are helping patients stay strong, mobile, and independent—so they can keep doing what matters most.

💉 August is National Immunization Awareness Month 💉
Vaccines are one of the most effective ways to help protect yourself, your family, and your community from serious illnesses. They work by preparing your immune system to recognize and fight specific diseases before they have the chance to make you sick.

Staying up to date on recommended immunizations is an important part of preventive healthcare for children, adults, and older adults. Depending on your age, health history, lifestyle, or travel plans, you may be due for vaccines that help protect against illnesses such as influenza, shingles, pneumonia, tetanus, COVID-19, and more.

At Northern Maine Medical Center, we believe prevention is the foundation of long-term health. If you're unsure which vaccines are recommended for you, we're here to help answer your questions and guide you toward informed healthcare decisions.

A few minutes today can help protect your health for years to come.

Northern Maine Medical Center Recognized on Forbes’ 2027 Top Hospitals List

Fort Kent, ME – Jul 31, 2026 — Northern Maine Medical Center (NMMC) is proud to share with the community that it has been named to Forbes’ 2027 Top Hospitals list. This national recognition honors hospitals that demonstrate excellence in patient care, safety, and outcomes. NMMC is one of only four hospitals in Maine to receive this distinction.

The Forbes Top Hospitals list is developed in partnership with leading healthcare data analysts and guided by an expert panel of clinicians, researchers, and patient advocates. The rankings draw on publicly reported data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), evaluating hospitals on a range of measures tied to safety, effectiveness, and patient-centered care.

This recognition reflects more than clinical performance—it represents the strength of a community that values access to high-quality healthcare close to home. In a rural region where local care is essential, NMMC’s inclusion on this list underscores its commitment to being here when it matters most—for families, neighbors, and future generations.

Hospitals across the country are assessed through a rigorous screening process, with only a select group meeting the criteria for inclusion. A significant portion of the evaluation focuses on clinical outcomes—such as mortality rates, hospital-acquired infections, and readmissions—ensuring recognized organizations reflect strong, consistent performance in the areas that matter most to patients.

“We are incredibly proud to receive this recognition from Forbes,” said Jeff Zewe, President and CEO of Northern Maine Medical Center. “It reflects the trust our patients place in us and the dedication of our staff to care for friends, family members, and neighbors every day. We know how important it is to have strong, reliable healthcare close to home, and we remain committed to delivering that for the people of northern Maine.”

Being named to the 2027 list reinforces Northern Maine Medical Center’s continued focus on excellence, innovation, and improving the health of the region. NMMC remains committed to advancing care delivery while ensuring patients can access trusted, high-quality healthcare close to home.
