R*ta looks like it will be a wonderful medication for the people that need it. However as of now it’s not even done the clinical trials, let alone FDA approved. It doesn’t even have a name and completely illegal to prescribe. Wherever people are getting it have ZERO oversight and who knows what is in the vial. And in the big picture for the average person the medications available now are pretty darn close. Just be patient!

Incredible the amount of people we see in Sunny ☀️ Florida that have low vitamin D levels. Typically you just need some good sunlight exposure and maybe because it’s so hot people are actually spending less time out in the sun, but I don’t buy that as a sole cause. If you’re feeling off come in for some labs. We don’t check vitamin D by itself, but as part of a panel and let’s get to the bottom of it!

The deceptive marketing from telehealth GLP-1 companies has gotten out of control. Membership fees, consultation fees, year long commitments, not including cost of things like medicine and follow up visits. It’s purposely made to be confusing for people and that’s just not right. Have you experienced this?

I used to do this often in the emergency department and though my colleagues found it entertaining it was not always received well by patients. I get it - if you’re having what you perceive as an emergency I understand how that could come across as “gaslighting“. I also understand if you wait 6 months to see your doctor and in 5 minutes they tell you you look fine just eat better, exercise, take these pills and send you on your way that could be feel like you wasted your time. However the message is very much correct we just need to do a better job at delivering it 🎤

A plateau is a normal and expected part of a Weight loss journey. Before considering a dose adjustment get back to basics. Make sure you’re getting your 150 minutes a week of moderate exercise and tracking your caloric intake to make sure you’re not having calorie creep. Analyze sleep, stress and alcohol use as those can all make the process more difficult if not optimal. Make sure you have enough fiber and fluids to keep your bowels moving and remember this is a normal part of the process! If you’ve done all these things and find yourself still stuck contact your provider for an appointment and dosing analysis. What has helped you push through a plateau?
