Starting June 1st, Aetna patients can officially use their insurance for teletherapy with Cap Speech Therapy.

After 12 years as a private pay practice, this is a huge step for us because we never wanted insurance to compromise the quality and personal attention our families receive. But we found a way to do both.

Kitchen speech tips with kids that actually help language development.🧑‍🍳

The kitchen is one of the easiest places to support toddler speech development without extra work.

Here are simple speech therapy ideas you can use during everyday routines.

Give your child a small job like handing you ingredients or stirring
Model words like more, help, my turn, open

Offer simple choices during snack prep
Model I want that, this one, more please, no thank you

Talk through what you are doing while cooking
Pour, mix, dump, cut, all done

Add fun sound words like
sizzle, pop, crunch
These help encourage early speech imitation

Pause before giving things so your child has a chance to communicate. They may point, look, make a sound, or try a word

Turn cleanup into learning
Put in, done, all gone, clean up

These small moments build strong language skills during real life routines.

Next time you’re reading with your child…

After you finish the book, don’t rush to the next thing.

Pause.

Give them a turn.

Then wait.

If they need a clue, just give the first sound of the word.

Then wait again.

This small pause gives their brain time to process language, and creates space for them to actually try producing the word on their own… without pressure.
