After surgery, Jared Shorter had to learn how to walk again.

When he arrived at Jon & Helaine Ayers Rehabilitation Center, he could only take a few steps with a walker. After months of hard work, determination and therapy, he's progressed to walking sticks and is focused on getting back to flying, driving, traveling and doing the things he loves most.

💗 A mammogram screening for $99? That's worth a closer look.

This October, Holy Cross Health is offering uninsured patients who qualify a mammogram screening for $99 and a bone density screening for $150 during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The mammogram screening includes 3D mammography and the radiologist's reading fee.

Screenings are performed at the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women's Center at the Holy Cross HealthPlex in Fort Lauderdale, where SmartCurve™ 3D technology is designed to make mammograms more comfortable without compromising image quality.

Appointments are available through October 31. Call 954-542-0277 to schedule.

AFib can leave people with a lot of questions.

What is it? What symptoms should I look out for? When should I talk to a doctor? What are my treatment options? Would a procedure help?

Those were some of the conversations happening at yesterday's Understanding AFib event, where patients and caregivers heard from electrophysiologists with Holy Cross Medical Group about atrial fibrillation, including symptoms that may include heart palpitations, shortness of breath, fatigue and dizziness, when to seek medical evaluation, and treatments available today, including minimally invasive procedures that are helping many patients get back to doing the things they love.

Thank you to Dr. Rishi Anand, Dr. Alexandra Sanchez and Dr. Daniel Weitz for sharing their expertise and answering questions from patients.
