Back-to-school season means heavier backpacks, longer days, and growing bodies carrying more than they should.

A child’s backpack should generally weigh no more than 10–15% of their body weight. Encourage them to use both shoulder straps, keep the bag close to the back, and remove unnecessary items each day.

Watch for warning signs like back, neck, or shoulder pain, red strap marks, leaning forward while walking, or numbness and tingling.
