March was a big month at spot!
We:
🥑celebrated ST Patrick’s day by eating green foods
🌮had taco Tuesday
🥝made lots of crafts
💚took a feeding course to better help our babies feed!
🧦Rocked our socks for Down Syndrome awareness!
🍏had tons of fun!!

🥦🥒🍏🥬For Saint Patrick’s day we wore our best green outfits and tried all kinds of green foods! We worked on touching, smelling, and licking celery, snap peas, crunchy green snacks, and green juice. We had a blast and worked on our tolerance for different foods! 🥬💚🥑🥝

Recently we hosted Taco Tuesday! This was a great opportunity to expose our kids to a variety of foods that they may have not seen before in a pressure-free environment. We compared foods (crunchy tortilla chips vs soft tortillas, red peppers vs orange, queso cheese vs shredded cheese etc.) and made sure our plates had lots of colors. We got to try some new dipping sauces and even found some new favorite foods! We will be doing more food exploration groups in the future, but to duplicate this at home here’s some tips!

🍅encourage them to have all ingredients on their plate, even if they do not want to try them. The more times they see a food or touch it, even if they are not eating it, the less scary that food becomes!

🥬involve your child! Encourage them to make choices between foods and help prepare the foods

🌮use positive language to describe foods and focus on the facts! “My taco is crunchy” rather than “I don’t like soft tacos”
