This past weekend, I finally got to connect and break bread with the Atlanta sisterhood of Goldman Sachs OMBW, Cohort 9.

These women are such an inspiration.

As they shared their stories, aspirations, pursuits, and lessons learned from the OMBW experience, I felt even more charged up about my own journey.

What I really appreciate about this community is that, when we get to talking, you seriously begin to discover how much you are not alone. That many of the challenges I am facing, others are facing as well.

A few of us have made the commitment to remain supportive and to hold each other accountable, as we continue to implement the lessons learned.

We were never meant to do life alone. Grateful for community.

Enjoying our downtime together at the waterfront after a long day of sessions and presenting at the Safety On The Edge Global Forum in Baltimore.

I am super-grateful for this wonderful experience to share the stage with such power-houses, Liz Horvath and Arijana Haramincic.

We spent weeks preparing for our panel discussion on "Psychological Safety Is Not Psychological Comfort: Leading People Under Pressure Without Causing Harm," and successfully delivered to a very intuned group of leaders.

It is very clear that more and more leaders are embracing this concept and practice of psychological safety in their workplaces. Our session sought to reinforce its importance, and to lay out a road-map of what it looks like in practice, while highlighting its implication for human performance, productivity, and accountability.

Psychological safety is not meant to undermine productivity. However, without its integration into the organization's culture, productivity will eventually be eroded.

And it should begin the moment a prospect is being interviewed for the new position.

Gearing up once again to engage this year's contingency of global leaders on a very poignant discussion, alongside fellow panelists and outstanding women leaders, Liz Horvath and Arijana Haramincic, on May 6th.

Our session,

"Psychological Safety Is Not Psychological Comfort: Leading People Under Pressure Without Causing Harm,"

Will explore the intersect between psychological safety, pressure and performance and what this means for organizational leaders and workforce development.

Rather than inhibit performance, growth and accountability, we will make the case that psychological safety is less about protecting workers from pressure, and more about leading them through in a productive and psychologically supportive way. Why? Because you cannot separate the person from the worker.

Most critical incident response plans are designed to answer one question:

"How quickly can we restore operations?" And that matters—especially in high-risk environments where delays carry real consequences.

But here’s the harder question leaders don’t always ask: "Is operational recovery the same as full recovery?"

In many organizations, the moment an investigation closes and corrective actions are implemented, the incident is considered “resolved.” On paper, stability is restored. In reality, a second layer of risk often remains—less visible, but just as consequential:

Psychological instability.

We saw this clearly in the aftermath of COVID-19. Even after organizations regained operational footing, nearly 40% of employees continued to report significant mental health challenges tied to the experience.

The implication for safety leaders is clear:

If your response plan restores operations but does not address the psychological impact of the experience, leaving people distressed, dysregulated, and cognitively overloaded, risk hasn’t been eliminated—it’s been displaced.

True recovery requires synchronization between operational stability and psychological stability.

How can leaders integrate both—without compromising speed, credibility, or performance?

That is the conversation I will be advancing at the ASSP Region IV Professional Development Conference in Atlanta, GA this Thursday, April 23. Looking forward to joining my safety professionals.

Even in the most mature safety cultures, incidents, near misses, and tragedies still occur. The recent event at LaGuardia Airport involving an Air Canada Express CRJ-900LR is a sobering reminder.

In moments like these, organizations move quickly—activating response protocols, launching investigations, and identifying root causes.

But there’s a critical question we don’t ask enough:

What about the psychological impact on the people involved—those directly and those who witness it?

While we focus on systems, processes, and prevention, are we equally prepared to support the human response to trauma?

Is your organization equipped to:

✳️ Recognize psychological distress after an incident?

✳️ Support frontline leaders who are carrying both operational and emotional responsibility?

✳️ Integrate mental health into your incident response—not as an afterthought, but as a priority?

Goldman Sachs OMBW brought us, pumped us, snatched us, poured into us, fed us, housed us, and sent us back to our businesses with renewed imagination and new lenses.

These past few days can only be best described as par excellence.

Being in that room made me recognize the depth of my capacity and the vastness of my potential. That I have only just begun to tap into my capabilities.

I am leaving with greater clarity and a profound sense of awareness, that even in moments of uncertainty and doubts about my own trajectory, a group of people believed in me and my business enough to bet on me.

Thank you Goldman Sachs! I am now ready to do the heavy lifting.

About to kick-off my 12-week program with Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women: BIB this week.

Before I even begin in earnest, these folks placed me on the "therapy couch," and are having me confront one of the greatest challenges in my adult life - my relationship with money.

It's been almost 30 years! Coming to the US as an international student with limited resources changed my life in so many ways. My relationship with and view of money has been one of those factors.

I had to write a letter to money today. The deliverance process has begun!

You can only imagine how excited I am to begin this incredible journey with Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women: Black in Business (OMBW: BIB) program!

This was set to happen in 2025 but circumstances beyond my control would not permit it to be so. It worked out exactly as it needed to. This time I have more clarity, a greater sense of awareness of who I am and where I want to go with my business and brand, and more prepared to receive from this experience.

I am looking forward to meeting and interfacing with my fellow cohort members and gleaning as much from this program. I am grateful that I will be accessing this kind of mentorship. Therapists often lament being great clinicians but lacking in the entrepeneural skills department.

The curriculum we will be engaging is quite robust, addressing several areas that are important to me; including how to position my company for growth, attracting my ideal customers, developing effective marketing and sales, financial planning and projections, and business scaling.
