Not everyone regulates emotions the same way.

One person may want to talk immediately.

The other may need twenty minutes or a few hours, before they can have a productive conversation.

Taking space can be healthy.

The important part is communicating what that space means.

Try:

“I’m overwhelmed right now. I need an hour, but I want to finish this conversation tonight.”

That feels very different from disappearing.

Space can protect a relationship.

Silence used as punishment damages it.

During conflict, do you need space or do you prefer to talk immediately?

“I’m sorry” matters.

But repair requires more than words.

If the same behavior keeps happening, the conversation eventually stops being about whether someone feels sorry.

It becomes about whether anything is actually changing.

Healthy apologies usually include:

Understanding what happened.

Taking responsibility.

Acknowledging the impact.

And making an effort not to repeat it.

Perfection isn’t the expectation.

Effort is.
