According to the U.S. Census, about 20% of the population (66 million people) live in rural areas. In these settings, healthcare infrastructure is often limited, and specialty services may be hours away.

These distances matter. Rural residents experience higher cancer mortality rates, lower screening rates, and are more likely to be diagnosed at later stages than people living in urban areas. Addressing these disparities is essential to achieving a more equitable cancer care system.

Cancer care isn’t just about cancer.

Cancer impacts a patient physically, but the emotional toll can also be just as great—and not just on the patient. It can affect the patient’s spouse, partner, caregivers, siblings, and other close relationships.

That’s why cancer care has evolved to address the mental health aspects of cancer treatment in the form of whole-person care.

Learn more about whole-person cancer care and what we're doing with partners like CanCare, Inc. and Colla Health to ensure we're bringing mental health support into the treatment fold, in this blog post: https://hubs.li/Q04rcRVV0
