When you choose Yates, your loved one never leaves our care.

We own and operate our own crematory. That means from the moment we pick up your loved one to the moment we return them to you, they're with us every step of the way.

No third parties. No outside facilities. No handing them off and hoping for the best.

A lot of funeral homes use outside crematories. Once your loved one leaves their care, they lose control over what happens next. We didn't want that. So we built our own.

When you trust us with your loved one, you're trusting our team and only our team.

That's the Yates difference.

When you lose someone, you're there, but you're not totally there.

You're tired. You're emotionally stressed. And yet, the day after your loved one passes, you'll sit down at a funeral home and have to provide a lot of information.

It's called vital statistical information. Date of birth, social security number, father's birthplace, mother's maiden name, educational level. All of it required for the death certificate.

Then there's historical information. Where did they work? What did they do for a living? What schools did they attend? Were they part of a church or any clubs? This is what becomes the obituary.

Most families don't have this information ready. They have to dig through old files, call relatives, and piece it together while they're grieving. It takes hours. Sometimes days.

That's why pre-planning matters. When this information is gathered ahead of time, your family doesn't have to scramble. They get to focus on grieving, not paperwork.

It's one of the simplest gifts you can give them.

Funerals don't just end relationships. Sometimes they start them. Families come to us during the hardest moments of their lives. And in those moments, something happens. Real conversations. Real connection. The kind that doesn't go away when the service is over.

There's a better way to handle funeral decisions.

Instead of making choices under pressure, you can sit down with someone like Brian and walk through what we call the funeral planning kit. It's complimentary. Free of charge.

Brian will help you make all the decisions ahead of time and get everything down on paper. That way, when the time comes, instead of trying to figure everything out while you're grieving, the only question is: "What time and what date do you want the service?"

That's it. Everything else is already handled.

To us, that makes a whole lot more sense than scrambling to make decisions when emotions are high and time is short.

We think it's very important to do something. We're not saying you have to pay Yates for a chapel service or a viewing or anything like that. But we think it's important to recognize that this person was special to you. This person has passed away, and now you're in a different situation than you were yesterday.

I tell people this all the time: Please do something.

If you can't have a service here, or you absolutely don't want to do it here, that's okay. But please do something.

Do it in your backyard. Get your family together. Get your friends together. Tell the stories. Laugh, cry, yell, scream, curse a little if you need to.

But do it.

Have you ever wondered why funerals have existed since the beginning of time?
If we don't honor the dead or have some kind of process in place, we run the risk of what's clinically called complicated grief. Skipping the funeral process can lead to long-term physical and emotional effects.
I get it. Most people think, "When I'm dead, I'm dead. I'm gone." And that's true. But what we forget is that we have loved ones still here. Spouses. Children. Friends. People for whom you've been a meaningful part of their life.

The funeral isn't for you. It's for them.

When families skip the viewing or bypass the grieving process entirely, that's when complicated grief happens. The pain doesn't go away. It just gets buried and shows up later in ways that are harder to deal with.

That's why we prepare your loved one with care. That's why viewing matters. It gives people a chance to say goodbye, to process what happened, and to begin healing.

We don't look like a funeral home. And that's intentional.

When we renovated, we decided: no funeral furniture. You know the kind. Dark, dreary, stiff, uncomfortable. The kind that makes you want to leave the second you walk in. We didn't want that.

So we went to the same furniture stores you'd shop at for your own living room. We designed spaces that feel comfortable, not institutional. Welcoming, not cold.
