Even when we make a thoughtful effort to involve parents, difficult moments can still happen. A caregiver may become defensive, withdraw from the conversation, disagree with our approach, or respond in a way we did not expect.

And as practitioners, we may notice our own reactions showing up, too.
In her session, “When the Caregiver’s Story Enters the Room: Working with Resistance Without Losing the Relationship,” Sara Sherman will explore how we can recognize our own responses under pressure and stay connected to ourselves and the caregiver, even when we see things differently.

Through a story drawn from her work and a facilitated live practice, Sara will invite participants to explore how they respond when the relationship feels strained, with practical tools to help them choose their next response with care.

What if we could learn to stay present with a caregiver, even when we cannot control how the conversation unfolds?

Explore this question with Sara at the Integrating Parents into EAS Conference.

Safety.

What does it mean to you?

How do you experience safety?

Within yourself?

In relationships with others?

It's one thing for us to talk about coaching with horses. It's another to see what we mean.

Since the horses are not putting together a PowerPoint (despite my request), we're inviting you to the farm to see for yourself.

Matt and I are hosting two free Equine Coaching Demo Days at our farm, Dandelion Farm in Fort Ripley. We'll introduce you to the herd, invite one or two volunteers to take part in demonstrations, and make room for questions.

Saturday, Nov 7, 2026 | 11 am–1 pm Central

Our approach is trauma-informed, which includes respecting choices, yours and the horses'. You're welcome to watch without volunteering. Being with the herd doesn't have to mean touching a horse.

These are demonstrations, not riding events or individual coaching sessions for every attendee. Horse contact isn't guaranteed.

It's come to my attention that a lot of folks don't really know about the one-on-one coaching I do.

I've been so busy building a program and a business for the last five years that I haven't done much to tell people about the coaching work I do, have done, and will continue to do.

So I'm offering five people one free 90-minute virtual coaching session each. You get to experience the work, and I get your honest feedback. I'm also inviting people who are willing to help others understand what working with me is like through an anonymous testimonial.

We can work with what's happening in your life: parenting, relationships, feeling worn down by your work, or a pattern you keep finding yourself in. I listen, compassionately challenge, and welcome being challenged, too.

My approach is trauma-informed: what you've lived through matters, and so do your choices and your pace.

In return, I ask you to complete a short preparation form and give honest feedback afterward. You can choose “I'm not sure” or “I'd rather not answer” on the questions. You don't have to report a change or tell me it was wonderful.

The testimonial part is entirely optional. If you're open to it, I'll ask permission to email you about a possible anonymous quote, then show you the exact words and where I'd like to use them for your approval. Nothing is shared without that approval, and there's no obligation to purchase coaching.

You can book directly from the available times. No application or separate discovery call.

The five free sessions are separate from my four ongoing paid coaching openings.

Life with a curious goat.

Probably not Matt's first choice in helpers! Ernest generally prefers to break things! Or eat them. It's a toss up.
