Generational trauma is like inheriting a family recipe you never asked for.

The good news? Therapy helps you decide what ingredients stay and what gets left out.

Because “that’s just how our family is” doesn’t have to be how your story ends.

We can help with that 💚

Maslow’s Corner 🐾

Hi humans. Maslow here.

Just a reminder that mental health is kind of like being a dog:

* Sometimes you need a snack before you can process emotions.
* Sometimes the problem is that you’re tired.
* Sometimes you need to go outside and sniff around dramatically for a while.
* Sometimes you need water, a nap, and for nobody to talk to you for 20 minutes.

That’s called self-care. I practice it professionally.

Also, if you’ve been growling at everyone lately, you may not be “lazy” or “bad at coping.”
You might just be overwhelmed and running on emotional crumbs and caffeine.

Please remember:
Eat something.
Move your body a little.
Text someone safe.
Rest without earning it first.

And if all else fails… lay in a sunny spot on the floor.
Works for me every time.

Please join us in welcoming and congratulating our two new full-time assistant professors in the BSW department, Ashleigh Hall, LMSW, and Audra Cooper, LCSW. Ashleigh Hall previously served as a visiting professor beginning in fall 2023, and Audra Cooper has served as an adjunct professor since fall 2023. We are thrilled to have both continue with the department in these new full-time roles and look forward to the many ways they will continue to contribute to our students, program, and community.
