"By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible." โ Hebrews 11:3
Have you ever thought about how much faith it takes to not believe in God?
My friend Mike was a PhD geologist who used his mind and his educational background to make decisions for an oil company. When he finally got serious about examining Scripture intellectually, he came to a surprising conclusion. He said, "It takes more faith to believe in the Big Bang Theory. It takes more faith to believe in evolution of the species than it does to take God at His word."
Now that's a fascinating thing to hear from a scientist. But he's right. All of us are people of faith. The question is, what is our faith in? Some of us have faith in theories. Others of us have faith in the Father of realities.
There is not one place in Scripture that cannot stand the scrutiny of the scientific community. We have hundreds, even thousands of manuscripts of Scripture. All classical scholarship is based upon the literature of the past, and we have more manuscript evidence for the Bible than for any other ancient document.
You don't have to check your brain at the door when you follow Jesus. In fact, the more you use your mind, the more you'll discover that God's Word holds up. You can stand with confidence intellectually in a world that says, "I choose not to believe in God." The evidence is on your side.
