Today we're shining the spotlight on Jimmy, who has been calling the Meridian at Westwood home for a year! One thing you'll notice about Jimmy is that he's always on the move. His favorite activity is walking, and he walks an impressive three miles every day!
When he's not getting his steps in, Jimmy enjoys his favorite hobby: collecting coins. His passion for numismatics (the study of currency) began just last year, and he has quickly developed an impressive collection. One of his favorite pieces is a 1922 Peace Dollar, a coin minted after World War I as a symbol of peace. The history behind the coin is what fascinates him most.
He even attended a coin show where he added several exciting finds to his collection, including a half dime, a three-cent nickel, and a 1909 VDB penny. He especially enjoys learning the stories behind the coins and the people who helped create them.
Of course, Jimmy's wife, Ruth, keeps him grounded. When asked what she thinks about his coin collecting hobby, he laughed and said, "She thinks it's a waste of money to spend money to buy money!"
