Birthwork is ministry.

We had such a wonderful time at our Birthwork is Ministry gathering last August 27!

We gathered as birthworkers to share our wins, talk honestly about the things we’re learning and navigating in birth work, encourage one another, and remind each other that we’re not doing this alone.

And, of course, we ended our time together in prayer. 🙏🏻

There’s something so special about gathering with people who understand the heart behind this work. Birth work is more than a profession. It’s an opportunity to serve, to love, to encourage, and to be a small part of what God is doing in the lives of families.

We believe that when God places a dream in our hearts, He is faithful to lead us as we pursue it. God is working in our midst, and we’re excited for what He is building through this community.

Pregnancy loss can mean grieving more than the pregnancy itself.

You may grieve the due date you were looking forward to, the milestones you thought you would reach, the plans you had already made, or the future you had started imagining.

And sometimes, the grief comes back unexpectedly. A pregnancy announcement, a baby’s birthday, or simply wondering, “What would things look like now?”

If that still hurts, you are not alone.

God sees your grief, He cares about your loss, and He has not forgotten you.

A doula educator teaches more than birth.

She teaches confidence.
She teaches hands-on support.
She teaches advocacy.
She teaches compassion.
She teaches doulas how to serve families well.

And what she teaches today can shape the way a mother is supported tomorrow.

We hope it's not too late to celebrate World Teachers’ Day! We honor all the educators who help prepare the next generation of doulas.

On the first night of our final Postpartum Doula & Newborn Care Specialist training cohort of the year, I was reminded just how far-reaching this work can be!

We have birthworkers joining us from across the United States and around the world! ❤️

What a blessing to pour into these birthworkers as they prepare to serve families in their own communities. Many of the families they will support are families I may never meet and could never reach on my own.

This is the beauty of teaching: multiplication.

When we invest in one birthworker, the impact reaches so much farther than the classroom. It reaches the mothers, babies, and families she will care for—and the communities she will touch along the way.

I may never see the full reach of that impact, but I’m so grateful to play a small part in it!

Here’s to equipping birthworkers, strengthening communities, and supporting families around the world. 🌎❤️

"Think there are already “too many doulas”?

In 2024, 3,628,934 babies were born in the U.S. That’s nearly 10,000 births every day.

Of course, not every family will hire a doula. But there are millions of families entering the birth space every year, each with different needs, preferences, and circumstances.

So if you’re considering becoming a doula, don’t let the number of doulas you see online convince you that there’s no room for you.

There is still a need for well-trained, compassionate doulas who are committed to serving families well.

The question isn’t just, “How many doulas are there?”

It’s: What kind of doula do you want to become?"

The first weeks with a new baby can be a lot for a family. As a Postpartum & Newborn Care Specialist, you’ll learn how to provide practical support with newborn care, postpartum recovery, feeding, and the everyday needs of a growing family.
