Today we observe World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, which is celebrated every year on the second Saturday of October. The day emphasizes the importance of hospice and palliative care for individuals with serious or challenging illnesses.

This year's theme focuses on "Pain Management: An Essential Part of Palliative Care," which goes beyond just physical pain, but emotional, spiritual, mental, and social as well. It's a reminder to all healthcare professionals, governments, and communities that every individual deserves quality care, comfort, compassion, and dignity. 💜

💜This month, we've used our platform to shed light on Alzheimer's disease and today is World Alzheimer's Day. As September comes to an end, we want to thank family, friends, medical professionals, and volunteers who care and support patients living with Alzheimer's every day.

Consider gifting a donation for the Alzheimer cause, volunteering time with patients, or simply spreading awareness about today. Every action makes a difference 💜.

💜Understanding the symptoms of Alzheimer and dementia is a large part of this year's theme. Learning to catch the early signs of the disease can pro-long the decline of the symptoms. While there is no cure for Alzheimer at this time, treatment and support resources are available. If you or someone you know is struggling with cognitive decline, please consider seeking professional care.

A diagnosis can make all the difference. A new case of dementia occurs somewhere in the world every 3 seconds - you are not alone. 💜

💜This week we talk about what Alzheimer's disease is. People with Alzheimer's are affected with cell damage that lead to dementia symptoms that progressively worsen over time. When the disease advances and becomes more severe, swallowing food and walking become difficult, requiring more care and support.

While most individuals affected with Alzheimer are 65 years and older, the Alzheimer's Association found that an estimated 200,000 Americans under the age of 65 are living with younger-onset Alzheimer. 💜

💜September is recognized as World Alzheimer's Month. This is a time to learn, educate, and support those who are on their Alzheimer journey. Affecting more than 55 million people worldwide, dementia impacts the brain causing issues with memory, thought processing, behavior, and emotional consequences too.

At Eleos we are honored to serve those with dementia, including people with Alzheimer. We thank all our patients and families who allow us to continuously learn and how to better support individuals with the disease. This month, we would like to dedicate our page to spreading awareness on the topic!💜

Sunday is Grief Awareness Day. The event was established in 2014 by Angie Cartwright to normalize and destigmatize grief, while helping educate others on the grieving process. Every year the event is observed on August 30th which falls on Sunday this weekend.

Everyone goes through grief at some point in their life. Take a moment this weekend to honor loved ones who have passed, check on friends and family who are grieving, and find a moment in your own grieving process, because no one is alone in their struggle with loss.

Every year on August 21st, the world celebrates Senior Citizens and their contributions to society. The celebration emphasizes the importance of providing seniors with proper healthcare, financial security, and social support systems.

At Eleos, we have the privilege of serving the senior citizens in our community every day. It is with great honor that we stand by them as they share their wisdom and stories with us. If you or someone you know would like to gift back to the senior community, consider volunteering with Eleos today!

Today we honor our U.S. service members who were wounded or killed in action. The purple heart medallion is a reminder of the cost of freedom we so often take for granted. We honor these veterans who selflessly put their lives on the line to protect us.

We are especially grateful for the veterans and families we have had the privilege to serve - thank you for allowing us to walk beside you with compassion, care, and respect. Please take a moment today to thank a veteran in your life.⭐

As July comes to an end, we shift our focus towards August. The start of this month observes National Health Center Week which recognizes and celebrates America's 1,512 Community Health Centers. Their dedication to providing affordable, comprehensive, and community-driven primary care is amplified through this year's theme: Building Innovative Care Where It Matters Most.

From Sunday August 2nd to Monday August 8th, each day brings a new celebration. Check out their healthcenterweek.org for more information about the celebrations and service opportunities near you!
