During our trips across the state to meet with individuals and families receiving Medicaid Waiver services, we were often asked if we would have Case Managers who are familiar with local resources.

The answer is yes! AIHS Case Managers live and work within the communities they serve and are experienced with local resources, schools, providers and waiver services. Additionally, our online database includes local, statewide and national resources.

Your Aging & Disability Case Manager will advocate for you! Visit our website to learn more. Link in the comments below.

Are you familiar with Indiana's network of Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) who have provided Case Management services for over 30 years?

As of June 1st, individuals and families on Medicaid Waivers have been asked to select from 5 organizations serving the entire state. AIHS is the only AAA selected and the only nonprofit organization selected.

If you have not yet selected a Case Management provider, we hope you will consider our 50 years of service to our community and our commitment to Hoosiers across the State. We hit the road to attend Case Management Meet & Greets across Indiana and met with individuals and families receiving Medicaid Waiver services to learn about what matters to them in a Case Manager.

Here we are in Richmond, Indiana! Here's what we heard during our visit:
- Flexibility in scheduling
- Longevity at provider agency
- Good with kids

Of course, our Aging & Disability Case Managers check all of these boxes! Visit our website to learn more about what sets our Case Managers apart. Link in the comments below.

Today we join The Arc in celebrating the anniversary of the Olmstead Act, the landmark legislation that affirmed that unjustified institutional segregation of people with disabilities is illegal discrimination under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

In Indiana, the Bureau of Disabilities Services provides person-centered programs that support individuals of all ages with disabilities to live their best lives through community and residential support. We thank BDS for the important work they do in making that legislation a reality for Hoosiers.

Today is the anniversary of Olmstead v. L.C., the Supreme Court decision that affirmed the right of people with disabilities to live in their communities. And today, that right is at risk.

A new Department of Justice opinion says the federal government may stop enforcing one of the strongest protections people with disabilities have against institutionalization.

This opinion doesn’t erase Olmstead or take away the regulations that protect community living. But it’s dangerous because rights mean less when the federal government refuses to enforce them.

Our Senior Executive Officer Shira Wakschlag, told NPR: “This opinion is a direct threat to decades of progress toward community living for people with disabilities. People with disabilities shouldn't be forced into institutions because a state refuses to provide services in the community.”

Olmstead has helped millions be a part of their communities and live the lives they choose. We cannot go backward.
