Goodbyes are never easy—especially when it is someone who has meant so much to our team. 💜 We celebrated Mallory as she begins an exciting new chapter as a school nurse, and Sierra as she prepares to welcome her sweet baby boy. We are so proud of them both and excited for all that is ahead! 👶🩺✨

NORTH OFFICE PATIENT - Starting on Monday, June 22, crews will work on sewer repairs between Oak Xing and Tonkel Road/N. Clinton Street. The eastbound lanes will be closed for approximately four days, with one lane of eastbound S.R.1/Dupont Road expected to reopen by Thursday, June 25. Eastbound S.R. 1/Dupont Road is expected to fully reopen by Monday, June 29. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.

During the closure, eastbound through traffic will be restricted at Diebold Road and should seek an alternate route. Local access will remain available for eastbound traffic up to Oak Xing.

🌬️ Could It Be Asthma?

Asthma is simply inflammation in the airways, but its symptoms aren't always obvious.

Common signs include:
✔️ Chronic cough
✔️ Wheezing
✔️ Shortness of breath
✔️ Chest tightness
✔️ Trouble sleeping due to cough or breathing issues
✔️ Frequent colds, bronchitis, or recurring respiratory illnesses

If you or your child seem to be constantly battling a cough or recurring respiratory symptoms, asthma may be the underlying cause.

Sometimes the most important thing we can give a patient is hope.

Recently, a patient who has battled an intensely itchy rash for more than six years shared her experience after meeting with Dr. Smits. She had seen multiple specialists, tried numerous medications, and was beginning to lose hope.

After just one visit, she told us:

"Even if nothing changes with my condition, I will be forever grateful for this moment of feeling like I was heard and there is hope."

At The Allergy & Asthma Center, we know that being listened to matters. We know that understanding a patient's story matters. And sometimes, hope is the first step toward healing.

Today we had the opportunity to celebrate Sharon and her nearly 15 years at The Allergy and Asthma Center as she begins her retirement 🎉

Over the years, she has been a steady and dependable part of our team, always showing up with a positive attitude and a willingness to help wherever needed 😊

We are grateful for the time, care, and commitment she has given to both our patients and our staff. Her presence will certainly be missed around the office ❤️

⚠️ HIGH allergen levels today across Indiana! Tree pollen is in full swing as trees begin to leaf-out across Indiana 2-4 weeks ahead of schedule! Tree and shrub pollen are the primary allergens currently! Dust is also in the air as tops soils dry and some field work begins.
