We’re excited to officially welcome Jonah Getty to Fort Wayne Spine & Joint as our newest preceptor chiropractor!

Jonah joined our office earlier this month and will be completing his clinical preceptorship with Dr. Byall through the end of 2026 under direct supervision as he finishes his Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Logan University.

A familiar face to many in the Fort Wayne area, Jonah is a graduate of Bishop Dwenger High School and later attended Indiana University, where he earned his degree in Exercise Science while also participating on IU’s Cheerleading Team. His background in athletics, fitness, and performance has helped shape his passion for movement, rehabilitation, and helping people return to doing what they love.

Jonah recently completed Part IV of his National Board Exams and has been working hard to continue developing his clinical and diagnostic skills as he prepares to enter the profession full-time.

We’ve loved having Jonah in the office already and are excited for our patients to get to know him over the coming months. Please join us in welcoming him to the Fort Wayne Spine & Joint family!

We’ve been seeing a rise in (and a lot of success with) jaw pain cases lately! People come in with pain and have relief very quickly after starting treatment.

DID YOU KNOW?

31% of adults deal with jaw issues (TMD).

A systematic review by Chiaramonte et al. (2026) analyzed 18 randomized controlled trials and the results were pretty remarkable.

The studies showed that not only can chiropractic treatment help with TMD/TMJ issues, it’s one of the best and first lines of treatment you should consider!

Patients reported jaw pain, headaches, facial tension and limited ability to open their mouths.

This report highlighted some major findings in those battling jaw pain:

1. NECK MANIPULATION (adjustment) was one of the most consistent ways to reduce jaw pain and improve mouth opening, given that jaw pain is often a neck issue.

2. MUSCLE WORK in the form of myofascial release, particularly intra-oral therapy (working inside the mouth with a glove) showed great results, including sustained positive effects for up to one year in chronic cases.

3. DRY NEEDLING paired with upper cervical adjustments outperformed medication and traditional splints in trials.

Other interesting tidbits:

- One study reported a 100% success rate for intra-oral manipulation when applied within 1-2 days of “closed-lock” jaw.
- Research shows that adjusting the thoracic spine (middle back) had benefits for those with TMD issues.

We might be a little late on this…

But, March 14th marked 15 YEARS of Fort Wayne Spine & Joint… and yes, we have been informed that this is exactly what happens when a business is run by two guys who don’t keep track of important dates. 😅

Fair enough.

But in all seriousness—15 years.

That’s 15 years of serving this community, building relationships, helping people move and feel better, and growing in ways we never could have imagined back in 2011.

We came across some pictures from when we first started, and let’s just say… you’ll notice a few things:

A lot less gray hair
A lot more “figuring it out as we go”
And somehow we thought those outfits were a good idea

It’s pretty wild to look back and see how much has changed—and even more humbling to realize how many of you have been part of that journey.

To our patients, friends, and families—thank you.

Your trust, support, and referrals over the years have meant everything to us.

We don’t take it lightly that you’ve allowed us to be part of your health and your lives.

Here’s to 15 years… and (hopefully) remembering the anniversary on time next year!

WALK-IN HOURS – REMINDER

This is a reminder that Walk-In Hours will be available this Friday from 10:00am–1:00pm. We have extended the hours to 1:00pm due to increased interest.

Dr. Byall will be in the office during this time to accommodate patients needing evaluation or continued care.

Patients are welcome to walk in, or may call ahead to request a specific time within the 10:00am–1:00pm window.

Additionally, Dr. Hiss will have regular appointment hours on Wednesday from 9:30am–1:00pm.
