What a throwback Shining Through The Years with Silver Birch of Terre Haute's Decades Day, Silver Birch of Mansfield's ERAs Day, and a costume contest for the raddest 80's threads at Silver Birch of Mishawaka. Silver Birch of Muncie went wild with Wacky Wednesday, and Silver Birch of Fort Wayne showcased their incredibly talented community with their Golden Art & Craft Showcase! We are so happy to share these wonderful moments from our communities during this extra special week 💙

What a whirlwind start to the week! Our communities have kicked off AHCA/NCAL National Assisted Living Week with a bang! From Shining Through The Years of the 50s and 60s at Silver Birch of Mishawaka (Hi Elvis!), tie dye days at Silver Birch of Midtown and Silver Birch of Evansville, pajama day at Silver Birch of Kokomo, to a full fashion show at Silver Birch of Fort Wayne, our staff and residents at Silver Birch communities take celebration seriously! We look forward to all the other fun and fulfilling activities the rest of the week has in store 💙

Silver Birch of Mishawaka welcomed Brian Schmutzler, MD, PhD to the community this week to hear directly from our residents about affordable assisted living and their experiences in our community and with the Medicaid assisted living waiver. He took the opportunity to see the amazing services we provide, and got to help celebrate our "70's day" event as part of National Assisted Living Week! Thank you for taking the time to chat with us and see what Silver Birch is all about! 💙

This week is National Assisted Living Week and Silver Birch communities are excited and hard at work to celebrate with our residents! This year's theme is "Shining Through The Years" and we can't wait to see how our teams and residents exemplify that theme and have an amazing time doing it. In past years for just a small number of examples we've had carnivals, photo booths, car shows, proms, bingo, and even a mayoral visit and proclamation!

A full-circle moment at Silver Birch of Mishawaka!

Silver Birch Living was proud to host the Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority (IHCDA) Board meeting at our Mishawaka community - a community made possible through the partnership and vision of IHCDA.

Silver Birch of Mishawaka Executive Director Linsey Fitterling welcomed IHCDA Board Chair Jim McGoff, Board Members, and guests and spoke about the community's mission and the residents it's proud to serve, while Amy Eubank, Silver Birch VP of Operations, reflected on the longstanding partnership between Vermilion Development, Silver Birch Living and the IHCDA and the impact it has had on expanding affordable assisted living options for Indiana seniors. Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood additionally welcomed the group on behalf of the residents of Mishawaka.

It was especially meaningful to have Silver Birch residents join us for the meeting. They are the reason this work matters.

Today, Silver Birch operates nine assisted living communities across Indiana, providing seniors with an affordable alternative to institutional care where they can maintain their independence, live in their own apartment, and receive the support they need.

Hosting IHCDA at Silver Birch was truly a full-circle moment - bringing together the partners who helped make these communities possible in a place where that vision is now a reality every day.

Thank you to the IHCDA Board and staff for visiting, and for your continued commitment to creating more housing and care options for Hoosiers. 💙

We are excited to welcome our new Vice President for Quality & Wellness Nina Burris to the Silver Birch team! Nina brings more than 30 years of nursing and healthcare experience spanning both clinical and operational roles, with a deep specialty in serving older adults and supporting the teams who care for them.

Inspired by her mother's example of caring for others, she has built her career around a simple conviction: that every older adult deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. In her new role, Nina will strengthen our quality assurance and wellness programs while championing the resident-centered, compassionate care that defines Silver Birch. Please join us in giving Nina a warm welcome - we can't wait to see the difference she'll make for our residents and our communities! 💙

⚾️ Batter up! Our residents traded in their usual seats for seats at the ballpark! Fort Wayne TinCaps From cheering and people-watching to soaking up the sunshine, we had a home-run kind of day! 😎⚾️❤️ It was a great time socializing and watching fireworks with residents and staff from our sister facility Silver Birch of Fort Wayne

We took an adventure to the public downtown library and learned about prehistoric animals at their July Dinosaur Exhibit. Afterwards, we headed down to the Lincoln Exhibit to learn about good ole Abe and his contribution to our nation. It was a full day of learning! 🦖🇺🇸📚

We are incredibly proud to announce that among the winners of this year's AHCA/NCAL Quality Awards include multiple Silver Birch communities! Joining fellow Silver Birch communities with either a Silver or Bronze Quality Award, Silver Birch of Kokomo , Silver Birch of Avondale , and Silver Birch of Midtown have each earned a 2026 Bronze Quality Award and Silver Birch of Mishawaka, Silver Birch of Fort Wayne , and Silver Birch of Terre Haute have each earned a 2026 Silver Quality Award. With these additions, all Silver Birch Living communities in Arizona, Illinois, and Indiana have earned a Quality Award. Silver Birch Living is committed to serving seniors with the dignity and respect they deserve, and these awards are a testiment to our mission, our teams, and our residents. 💙

Our residents had a wonderful time enjoying Friday’s lunch outing at Hall’s Hollywood Diner Hall's Hollywood Drive-In. Good food always tastes better when it’s shared with great friends, and the beautiful weather made the day even sweeter. We love getting out into the community and making memories together—one delicious bite at a time! 💛

The residents and staff celebrated the 250th anniversary of the USA with patriotic decorations, home made patriotic goodies, and of course a BBQ hosted by our AMAZING CULINARY TEAM! Our Maintenance Assistant and a resident were the grill masters. Definitely a fun celebration!

Our June was filled with some amazing creatures and critters! 🦎🐍🕷️ It was a fun and educational experience as our residents got the chance to see, touch, and even hold some fascinating animals. For some, it was a brand-new experience, while others bravely welcomed the opportunity with curiosity and excitement.

We went to the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory to check out their butterfly exhibit. It was interesting learning about their life cycle and we were fascinated by their beauty. We are so grateful this beautiful facility offers $1 nights to the public 🦋💕
Afterwards we stopped by McDonald's for dinner. It was a wonderful night on the town with friends 🍔🥤

🎤🎶 The residents had a wonderful time enjoying karaoke! There was plenty of singing, laughter, and fun shared with friends. Music has a special way of bringing people together, and everyone loved showing off their favorite tunes. Another joyful day filled with smiles and great memories! ❤️🎵

Today is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, and it's a reminder of something we take seriously not just today, but every day.

According to the World Health Organization, around 1 in 6 people aged 60 and older experienced some form of abuse in community settings in the past year alone, and that number is expected to grow as our population ages. Nobody deserves to be treated with anything less than dignity and respect, least of all seniors. At Silver Birch our mission is to inspire purposeful lives for all, and residents aren't just in our care, they're part of our family.

If you or someone you know has concerns about the safety or treatment of an older adult, please speak up.

Yesterday we held a reception and ribbon cutting commemorating the official Grand Opening of Silver Birch of Mansfield, our first affordable assisted living community in Ohio! We were so grateful for all the members of the community, government officials, and partners who joined us to celebrate! 🎉
