OFF THE MAT ✨ June Featuring Michelle Raymond
Michelle first came to Indigo in 2020 after her brother gifted her a membership during a difficult season of life. What began as a connection to the physical challenge of the practice slowly became something much deeper—grounding, breath, healing, and community.
After the birth of her son and the tragic loss of her brother Jeremy, returning to Indigo became part of navigating grief and finding connection again. Jeremy was also part of the Indigo community, and Michelle shared that although grief sometimes makes it difficult to show up anywhere, she feels grounded and closer to him when she’s on her mat.
“Sometimes in Savasana I imagine that we’re holding hands,” she said. “I still giggle remembering the times he would accidentally fall asleep during rest.”
She also shared that she knows he would be happy knowing she’s being held by the community, practice, and beliefs of yoga.
Beyond the mat, Michelle is a full-time special education teacher and the incredibly talented baker behind La Fortuna here in Fort Worth. If you’ve ever had one of Michelle’s cakes, you already know how special they are—and we were lucky enough to have her create one for Indigo’s 20th birthday celebration. Most days, you can find her in local coffee shops or chasing a toddler down Magnolia Avenue.
Michelle, thank you for allowing this community to walk alongside you. 🤍
