Far and away my favorite band and singer of the Grunge era. By the time of this MTV Unplugged, Layne was on the downhill side of the he**in addiction that would end up killing him, and his vocals were affected by the extensive degeneration of his teeth. But he still delivered a masterpiece of a soulful performance. Also, Jerry Cantrell was/is an underrated guitar player and song writer. Enjoy Nutshell - Alice in Chains.

Huxley was a visionary who came from a family of world-renowned scientists; his grandfather, T.H. Huxley, was a major proponent of Darwinism. This background gave Aldous a unique perspective on how human biology and psychology could be manipulated. He understood that the ultimate form of control is not a boot on the neck, but a screen that keeps us too distracted to care about our own freedom. When technology does the heavy lifting for our brains, our ability to reason for ourselves begins to atrophy.

This is tremendous. Worth a listen (though it might take 2-3 to really get hold of it). 🙂

If one dwells in social media land, one might be shocked by these stats. FB, X, TikTok, and the others are NOT the real world - not even a good reflection of reality, I'd say. I urge people to severely limit their social media scrolling time - not give it up completely, but major limits on scrolling time. It will have highly beneficial effects on your mental health, and pretty short order!!

Interesting quote I just heard, from a guy who was overweight his whole life, then finally changed some habits.

"Real food fixes the problems that fake foods create."

Most carb-laden processed foods fail to fill you up, do not satisfy hunger, have an almost addictive quality, are highlly inflammatory, tend to create cravings for more junk, leave you tired/lethargic all day, and make it easy to wildly exceed you caloric needs for the day.

REAL food fills you up, reduces cravings, reduce inflammation, give you consistent energy, doesn't have "crashes", and actually nourishes your body.

There isn't a work day that goes by without me trying to get a client to meditate. I haven't convinced everyone yet, but I'll keep trying. Honestly, if I could get people to do three simple things, I believe their mental health would improve by at least 50%. You ready for them? Meditate 15 minutes a day, walk 30-60 minutes a day, and drink half your body weight in ounces of water every day (e.g., I weigh 220, half is 110, drink 110 ounces of water - more when you exercise). Try it - you'll see!
