Living with HS can feel incredibly isolating. Many patients spend years feeling misunderstood, unheard, or like no one truly gets what they’re going through.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve quietly started something important: connecting patients with others who have lived through similar experiences.

Because support doesn’t only come from providers. Sometimes it comes from hearing, “I’ve been there too.”

As part of HS Awareness Week, we wanted to share that we’re actively building our Patient Ambassador Program to create more opportunities for connection, shared experiences, and support within the HS community.

🔬 Exciting News for the HS Community!

New research from our team is helping us better understand hidradenitis suppurativa at a deeper level, literally!

Dr. Pekarev and our clinical team just published a study looking at the bacteria found deep within HS lesions in patients with advanced (stage III) disease who needed surgery.

Why does this matter to you?

For years, most research focused only on bacteria on the skin's surface. This study looked deeper at the tissue that surgeons actually treat during surgery. What we found could help us choose better antibiotics for each patient based on their specific health conditions.

We discovered that certain bacterial patterns are associated with diabetes and recent steroid use, which means your medical history is important when planning your treatment.

This is the kind of research that drives better, more personalized care for HS patients. Every study brings us closer to understanding this complex condition and improving outcomes for our community.
