1 in 8 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Caught early, the survival rate is over 90%.

Early detection starts with knowing your own body and not putting off the exam you've been meaning to schedule. If something feels off, don't wait on it, and don't assume it's nothing just because it's easier to.

This month is a good reminder. So is every month after it.

Fried Oreos, a corny dog, a turkey leg the size of your forearm, and then somehow also a funnel cake. We get it, it's the State Fair, and the rules are different for ten days.

A day at the Fair also means hours outside in Texas heat, more walking than you planned, and easy-to-forget hydration. Dizziness, a headache that won't quit, or feeling confused or overly fatigued aren't just "too much sun," those can be early signs of heat exhaustion, and it's worth taking seriously before it turns into heat stroke.

If your stomach's putting up a fight the next morning, that's usually just fair food doing fair food things. If it's real pain, repeated vomiting, or it's not letting up, that's worth a visit, not just riding it out until the Ferris wheel stops spinning in your memory.

Drink water between the fried stuff. Go enjoy the Fair. We'll be here if either one fights back.

Flu shots at CityDoc are $18. That's the whole cost, no hidden fees tacked on.

The flu vaccine takes about two weeks to fully kick in, so the earlier in the season you get it, the better protected you are before flu activity picks up. No appointment needed. Walk in, get it done, go about your day.

If you've been putting it off because you weren't sure where to go or what it'd cost, now you know both.

If you're enrolled in VA healthcare, there's a good chance you qualify for something called the VA Community Care urgent care benefit — and most veterans we see had no idea it existed until someone told them in the waiting room.

Here's how it actually works: you don't need prior authorization, and you don't need a referral from your VA provider. You walk into CityDoc like anyone else, mention you're using the benefit, and we take it from there. We're a contracted, in-network provider for this program, so it's not a workaround — it's built for exactly this.

It's meant for the moments that can't wait for a VA appointment slot to open up — an infection, an injury, something that needs eyes on it today, not next week. If you've been putting off getting something looked at because you didn't want to deal with the VA scheduling system, this is the door that's already open.

In 2006, a small group of ER physicians in Dallas kept running into the same problem from the other side of it — patients showing up to the emergency room for things that never needed to be there. Sprains. Sinus infections. A cut that needed stitches, not a six-hour wait and an ER-sized bill.

So they built the alternative themselves. CityDoc opened in Uptown Dallas that year, with the idea that you shouldn't have to choose between "wait forever" and "pay a fortune" just to see someone qualified. Ten years later, in 2016, Fort Worth got its own location. Today there are four, across Dallas and Fort Worth, all with that same idea underneath them.

We still handle most of what you'd end up seeing in an ER for — just faster, in a smaller room, without the emergency room price tag attached. That's not a tagline. That's just why we exist.

CityDoc is women-owned and operated, Black-owned, and Asian-owned, led by physicians who built this practice around actually having time for their patients.

Dr. Garner, Dr. Rai, and Dr. Nance aren't just names on a wall; they're the ones setting the tone for how care happens here: unhurried, collaborative, and focused on the patient in front of them instead of the clock.

Today's a good day to say that out loud. ❤️

Sore throat, cough, and you can't tell if it's strep, flu, or something else going around? We run rapid tests for all three in one visit, so you're not guessing or waiting days for results.

Most people find out what they've actually got before they'd have even heard back from a regular doctor's office. Treatment starts the same day, based on real results, not a guess.

No need to self-diagnose off symptoms alone when we can just tell you.

A cut that's a little red the next day? Keep an eye on it, keep it clean, probably fine.

A cut that's spreading past the edges, hot to the touch, or comes with a fever? That's not a "wait and see" anymore.

The same logic applies more than people realize. A UTI that's just uncomfortable is one thing — a UTI with fever and back pain is your body telling you the infection's moved somewhere it shouldn't be. A sinus infection that's just annoying is one thing — swelling around your eye or your face is another conversation entirely.

This is the same judgment call ER physicians make dozens of times a shift: is this something the body will handle on its own, or is this the kind of thing that gets worse fast if it's left alone? You don't need a medical degree to use the same logic. You just need to know where the line actually is.

If you're asking yourself "should I go in," that's usually already your answer. We'll tell you fast, and we'll tell you straight — no runaround, no overreacting either way.

Today we remember September 11th, and the first responders who ran toward it.

CityDoc was founded by ER physicians, so this day carries a little extra weight for us. We're grateful for everyone who serves and responds so the rest of us can feel safe, today and every day.

Swollen, can't put weight on it, and you're not sure if it's a sprain or something more.

We've got on-site X-ray. Twenty minutes and you'll know which one it is, instead of guessing through the weekend.

Walk in after practice. We'll get you an answer before dinner.
