14 years ago today, we lost someone incredibly important to our family, our funeral home, and our community… Alma Lillian Brown 🕊️🤍

Alma was more than a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a strong businesswoman and an important part of the foundation upon which Brown, Owens & Brumley was built. Alongside her beloved husband, Joe B. Brown, she helped create a legacy of compassion, hard work, and service that continues through our family today.

Although 14 years have passed, her influence can still be felt in all that we do. We remain forever grateful for the life she lived, the lessons she taught us, and the legacy she entrusted to our family.

Today, we remember Alma and honor the remarkable woman she was. She is deeply missed and will never be forgotten. 🤍

🎒📚 Back-to-School Means More Than New Beginnings…

As the kids head back to school, many families are cleaning out closets, playrooms, and making room for the next season of life.

While you’re organizing, consider adding one new toy to your shopping list for a child who may not otherwise have something special to open this Christmas. ❤️

🎄 Our 4th Annual Christmas Toy Drive is just around the corner!

For the past three years, our incredible community has come together to donate more than 500 gifts, helping us bring smiles and hope to children throughout our area.

This year, we’re hoping to bless even more families—and we’d love for you to be part of it.

🎁 2026 Toy Drive Details

📅 Collection Dates: November 2 – December 18, 2026

🎄 Our Giving Tree will be located at our Saginaw office:
📍 730 S. Saginaw Blvd.

🤍 ONE YEAR LATER… THE SAME HEART. THE SAME VISION. MORE WAYS TO SERVE. 🤍

One year ago, we closed the doors to our well-known location in the Hospital District on Henderson Street and began a new chapter. While our address changed, the heart behind our service never did.

Today, we are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue serving the families of Fort Worth, Arlington, and the surrounding communities with two convenient locations—allowing us to better meet families where they are while providing the same compassionate, personal care we’ve always believed in.

Thank you to our amazing community for the support that made this possible. Because of your trust, we’ve been able to continue growing while staying true to the values our family has built over generations.

To every family who has entrusted us with the care of your loved one—thank you. Many of you have become part of our extended family, and it is an honor to continue our legacy of serving yours.

Our main funeral home and care center is located at 3208 Bishop Drive in Arlington, where our two on-site crematories are located. Because crematories must be located in an industrial-zoned area, this move allowed us to continue providing the highest level of care while keeping your loved one with us throughout the entire process—just as we always have.

Our Fort Worth office, located at 730 S. Saginaw Boulevard, was intentionally opened so families in the Fort Worth area would continue to have a welcoming, quiet, and professional place to make arrangements, receive guidance, and find support close to home. From the very beginning, our plan was to return to this area with a second location to continue serving the community we have loved for so many years.

We remain the same family-owned funeral home with the same commitment to compassionate service, meaningful memorials, and caring for every family as if they were our own.

The only thing that has changed is where you find us.

🤍 Same Heart.
💭 Same Vision.

📚💛 As Our Children Head Back to School…

Not every child walking through those school doors is carrying only a backpack.

Some are carrying grief.

Some are returning to a classroom after losing a parent…
A grandparent…
A sibling…
A friend…
Or someone who made them feel safe and loved.

Grief doesn’t end when summer ends. It doesn’t disappear because school starts. In fact, going back to school can make grief feel even heavier as children face new routines, milestones, and memories without someone they love.

As parents, grandparents, teachers, and classmates, we can all make a difference.

🤍 Teach kindness.
🤍 Include the child who seems quiet.
🤍 Be patient with changes in behavior.
🤍 Remember that grief can look like anger, tears, silence, anxiety, difficulty concentrating, or even laughter.

You never truly know what another child is carrying.

Sometimes the smallest act of kindness… a smile, an invitation to play, or simply saying “I’m glad you’re here”…. can make a world of difference.

As our community heads into a new school year, let’s not only prepare our children to succeed academically…

Let’s prepare them to lead with compassion.

Because kindness is something every child should take back to school.

🕊️ From all of us at Brown Owens & Brumley Family Funeral Home & Crematory, we wish every student, teacher, and family a safe, successful, and compassionate school year.

Tip: Don't wait for a crisis to research funeral homes. Getting familiar with a trusted provider ahead of time — even just a phone call — can bring real comfort and clarity when you need it most.

Some grief is loud. Some is quiet. Some just sits with you at the breakfast table, without saying a word.

All of it is valid. All of it is love. And none of it needs to be rushed.

For life's hardest moments, Brown, Owens & Brumley is here to help with the details — so you can hold onto what matters most.

A celebration of life is typically more personalized, informal, and uplifting. It focuses on honoring who someone was — their passions, their humor, their legacy — not just saying goodbye.

We can help you plan one that truly reflects your loved one. It can include music they loved, a display of meaningful photos, and even art or poetry that they enjoyed!

💬❓What is one thing you would want included in your own celebration of life?

Supporting someone who is grieving can feel overwhelming, and it's easy to worry about saying or doing the wrong thing. The truth is, you don't have to have the perfect words—you just have to show up.

If you're supporting a grieving friend or family member this summer, here are a few things that truly make a difference:
🤍 Show up without waiting to be asked.
🤍 Offer specific ways to help instead of simply asking, "How can I help?"
🤍 Say their loved one's name. It means more than you know.
🤍 Bring food. Seriously. Always bring food.
🤍 Keep checking in even after some time—time may pass, but their grief may linger.

Grief doesn't end after the funeral or when everyone else goes back to their normal routine. Your continued presence, your willingness to remember, and your simple acts of kindness can be a lifeline.

Being present is the most powerful thing you can offer. 🤍

There's no single right answer — it depends on your child's age, their relationship to the person who died, and how they tend to handle unfamiliar situations.

If you do decide to bring them, a little preparation goes a long way: gently explain what will happen, how people might be feeling, and how you'd like them to behave.

Children grieve too, and being included — even briefly — can be part of how they begin to understand loss.

Whatever loss you are carrying today — the beauty of that person, that relationship, that love — it remains. Always. ❤️ ...
