Yesterday, we had the privilege of recognizing the dispatchers, firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics with the Fort Worth Fire Department and Forest Hill Fire Department and the public safety communicators with the Fort Worth Emergency Management and Communications whose teamwork helped 21 members of our community survive cardiac arrest and return home with good neurological outcomes.
These recognitions, presented at the Fort Worth Public Safety Committee meeting, reflect cardiac arrest responses that occurred between April 1 and June 30, 2026.
Cardiac arrest survival is never the result of one person or one action. It begins with rapid recognition and lifesaving instructions from dispatch, continues with bystander CPR, high-quality CPR and early defibrillation from first responders, and is carried forward through advanced EMS care, coordinated transport, and hospital treatment.
Every link in the Chain of Survival matters.
The outcomes recognized today are a reflection of clinical excellence, preparation, communication, and teamwork across our entire public safety and healthcare system.
To every telecommunicator, firefighter, EMT, paramedic, supervisor, and partner agency recognized today: thank you for your professionalism, dedication, and commitment to the people we serve.
Twenty-one people are back with their families because an entire system worked together when it mattered most.
