Let's talk about something we don't always talk about.

Desire.

Because sometimes it's not that you suddenly decided you don't want intimacy anymore.

You're exhausted.
You're stressed.
Your body doesn't feel the same.

Maybe s*x has become uncomfortable.
Maybe your brain has 47 tabs open.

And somewhere underneath all of that…
your desire got buried.

That doesn't mean you're broken.
And it doesn't mean you're destined to spend the rest of your life pretending you're perfectly fine with it.

There can be a lot going on underneath low desire in midlife.

Hormones.
Sleep.
Stress.
Dryness.
Body image.

And yes… sometimes testosterone.

I'm going to unpack this in my upcoming free webinar
"How to Feel Hot Again"

Because I think women deserve a much better conversation about desire than
“Welp. You're in menopause now.”

Nope.

“There’s got to be something more to this thing called s*x.”

That question led Leah Piper to Ta**ra.

For her, Ta**ra became a way of bringing more:

Consciousness
Intention
Sensuality
Intimacy
Connection

into the experience.

And I love this because it opens up a much bigger conversation about intimacy.

It's not simply about s*x.
It's about being present.
Being connected.
Feeling safe enough to be seen.

And creating space for intimacy to become something deeper than a physical act.

Maybe that's part of what we're really looking for in midlife:

Not more performance.
More connection.

What if you don't have “low desire”...
but responsive desire?

This is something I wish more women understood.

For some people, desire doesn't necessarily show up first.
It develops in response to connection, anticipation, attention, novelty, affection, and feeling engaged.

Think about the beginning of a relationship.

The texts.
The flirting.
The dates.
The music.
The long conversations.
The little surprises.

You weren't sitting around waiting to feel desire.
You were creating the conditions for it.
And that matters.

Because sometimes the answer isn't:
“What's wrong with my libido?”

It might be:
“What helps me come alive?”

That is a very different question.

The #1 thing that kills intimacy?
Feeling unsafe.

And safety isn't just about what's happening around you.
It's also about whether you feel safe inside yourself.

When trust has been broken, when you've been hurt, gaslit, violated, or made to question your own instincts, your body can remember even when your mind wants to move forward.

And then you may wonder:
“Why isn't intimacy easy anymore?”

Sometimes it's not a lack of desire.
Sometimes your body is asking for safety first.

That's one of the conversations I had with Leah Piper on this week's episode of HOTNESS.

Because intimacy isn't just about chemistry.
It's about trust.
Connection.
Presence.
And feeling safe enough to let yourself be there.

There’s a strange moment that can happen in midlife.

You look in the mirror…
and recognize the face.
But somehow, you don’t quite recognize you.

Your energy feels different.
Your body feels different.

Maybe your libido has gone quiet.
Maybe sleep isn't what it used to be.
Maybe you've been doing all the “right” things and your body still isn't responding the way you expect it to.

And somewhere along the way, you started thinking…
Maybe this is just what getting older feels like.

I don't believe that.

Getting older is inevitable.
Feeling disconnected from yourself doesn't have to be.

I'm hosting a free webinar called How to Feel Hot Again, where we'll talk about what's actually happening in midlife, and what you can do about it.

Because “just live with it” is not exactly my favorite treatment plan. 😉

September 15 at 5:30 PM PDT.

It's free, and if you can't make it live, I'll send you the replay.

Why does everything suddenly hurt in midlife?

Your joints.
Your muscles.
Your recovery.

Things that never used to bother you suddenly seem to have opinions. 😂

Hormonal changes can affect connective tissue, inflammation, joint lubrication, pain perception, and resilience.

And as estrogen changes, recovery can slow.

This doesn't mean every ache and pain is hormonal.
But it does mean that hormones can be an important piece of the puzzle.

So when your body starts feeling different, don't immediately assume:
“I guess this is just aging.”

Get curious.

Figure out what's changing.
And then give your body the support it needs for this new phase.

Because getting older doesn't mean your body is broken.
It means your body is asking for a new conversation.

More exercise isn't always better.
Especially in midlife.

We need strength training.
We need mobility.
And we really need recovery.

If you're doing intense workouts day after day without giving your body enough time to recover, you may actually be decreasing some of the hormonal benefits you're working so hard for.

This is where I want women to rethink what “working hard” means.

More isn't automatically better.
Six intense workout days a week isn't necessarily better than a smarter, more balanced approach.

We're working out smarter, not harder.

Build muscle.
Build strength.
Protect your bones.
Move your body.
And give it time to recover.

Your body isn't asking you to stop.
It's asking you to adapt.

“I feel like I’ve gotten 20 years older in the last year or two. What is happening?”

I've heard versions of this from so many women in midlife.

Suddenly there's:

Hip pain.
Knee pain.
A frozen shoulder.
Plantar fasciitis.
Stiffness getting out of bed.

And you're thinking…

Wait. What happened to my body?

Here's the thing I want you to know:

Your body isn't betraying you.
It's changing.
And when your body changes, the way you support it needs to change, too.

That means understanding what's happening hormonally, protecting your muscle and bone, adapting your workouts, prioritizing recovery, and working with your body instead of fighting against it.

Midlife isn't the time to punish your body into behaving like it did at 30.

It's the time to learn what your body needs now.

Getting older is a privilege. Feeling old is optional.

And no, I’m not talking about pretending you’re 35. 😉

I’m talking about feeling strong, energized, capable, and like yourself as you move through midlife and beyond.

Too often, we wait until something hurts, breaks, or stops working before we pay attention to our health.

But what if we started sooner?

What if taking care of your body wasn’t about chasing youth, but about making sure you can fully live the life you’ve worked so hard to build?

You don’t just want to get through the day.

You want to feel good in it.

That’s not vanity.
That’s not selfish.
That’s the whole point.

Ready to feel good in your body again? Let’s talk. Book a free wellness call - link in the comments.
