This annual fundraiser is about more than shopping and great food! Proceeds directly support enriching activities and special events for Good Shepherd Home residents, making every purchase an opportunity to give back.

Activities Assistant

Do you love meaningful work and are you looking for a fun and fulfilling job? Are you responsible and creative?

We are looking for a part time activities assistant who will enjoy enriching our residents lives.

Activities Assistant Requirements:

Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating quality activity programs (includes entertainment, exercise, relaxation, and education)

Appropriately and descriptively chart resident progress and behavior

Es**rt patients to and from activities

Make regular in room visits to residents uninterested or unable to participate in group activities

Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards residents

Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance

Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment

Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team

Read, write, speak, and understand the English language

High school diploma and certain certifications may be required.

More education or experience with nursing, recreational activities, event planning, or related may be preferred.

Job training and first-aid and CPR training may be necessary and will be provided.

Ability to pass a background check and drug screening. Have a current driver’s license with no holds and great driving skills.

Physical fitness, ability to walk, dance, stand, lift at least 50lbs., or meet other physical demands. Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours

Adaptability and strong organization and time management skills.

Excellent resource management, record keeping, interpersonal, decision making, and verbal and written communication skills.

Patience and compassion when dealing with others, especially those who are sick, injured, elderly, or from different backgrounds.

Flexibility to work dayshifts, some evenings, every other weekend and some holidays.

Willingness to adhere to and enforce all safety policies and procedures.

Eager to work as scheduled, dependable, enthusiastic, great sense of humor, easy going, able to speak in large groups on the spot, able to do activities, set up for activities and clean up.'

🍂📖 A New Story Has Arrived at Our StoryWalk! 🐻🍁

There's a new story to enjoy as we celebrate the beauty of autumn at Good Shepherd Home!

Our latest StoryWalk selection is “Every Autumn Comes the Bear,” written and beautifully illustrated by Jim Arnosky. Originally published in 1993, this charming picture book is a timeless tribute to the fall season, following a bear as he makes his annual journey through the changing landscape in search of the perfect den for his winter hibernation.

With its gorgeous illustrations and gentle storytelling, this autumn classic is a wonderful way to appreciate the sights, colors, and rhythms of the season. 🍃🍂

We invite our residents, families, staff, and visitors to take a leisurely stroll, enjoy the crisp autumn air, and discover this delightful story one page at a time!

With midterm elections less than a month away, voting season has officially arrived! 🇺🇸✅We are grateful to the candidates who came to our Voter Forum today to speak with our residents, share their priorities, and answer their questions. And an extra special thank you to Gene Kinn who has served as our emcee for our Voter Forums for many years!

⭐️ Now Hiring: Director of Housekeeping & Laundry ⭐️

This full-time leadership role supports our mission by overseeing housekeeping and laundry services in a caring, resident-focused environment. Full-time position Monday–Friday with availability for some evenings and weekends.

Purpose: To assure areas are well maintained and residents are well served as it relates to their non-nursing needs.

Qualifications:
1. Must be a high school graduate or GED equivalent.
2. Must have an attitude of caring and compassion for the elderly.
3. Ability to relate to one’s peer group.
4. Ability to accept guidance and supervision.
5. Ability to teach skills to other staff members.
Physical Requirements:
1. Good physical and mental health.
2. Finger and hand dexterity to handle and manipulate instruments and equipment.
3. Walking, reaching, climbing, bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells and temperatures, ability to read and write, ability to communicate with residents and personnel and ability to remain calm under stress.
4. Must possess a current health certificate examination as required by state agencies.
Standards:
1. Mature and emotionally stable.
2. Willingness to work with realization that incompetence and errors
have serious consequences for residents.
3. Understanding, patience, and tact in dealing with geriatric residents
and with visitors.
4. Ability to maintain good working relationships with others.

1. Troubleshoot and address housekeeping and laundry services.

4. Assist in resident transfers and move-ins.
5. Ensure smooth discharges.
6. Provide personal attention to each new resident, ensuring their satisfaction.
7. Supervision of the housekeepers and laundry assistants in a manner that maximizes quality and efficiency.
8. Recommend staffing patterns and coordinate the scheduling of staff.
9. Provide personal attention to each new resident ensuring their satisfaction.
10. Assist in the supervision of the housekeepers and laundry assistants.
11. Ability to present the Home to others in a way that maximizes the Home’s positive reputation.
12. Attend and participate in Leadership Team meetings and perform needed
