3 things I teach my endometriosis patients:
✨ Endometriosis pain is not just about the lesions. The body often responds to ongoing pain with pelvic floor muscle tension and guarding, which can further contribute to symptoms.
✨ The tissues surrounding the pelvis can become restricted and less mobile over time. Improving mobility of these tissues may help reduce strain and discomfort with daily activities.
✨ Your nervous system can become more sensitive after experiencing pain for months or years. A more sensitive nervous system can amplify pain signals, even when there isn’t new tissue damage occurring.
I can’t remove or treat the endometriosis itself, but I can help address many of the changes it creates in the body.
Pelvic floor physical therapy can be an important part of your care team by addressing muscle tension, improving tissue mobility, and helping calm an overprotective nervous system.
You deserve support beyond being told to “just live with it.”
