I have a new client who asked about if specific body parts were included in a full body massage. His question got me thinking about people who have never had a Swedish, full body massage. They don't know what to expect!
It can be uncomfortable to do something for the first time. I find that I always make mistakes, but that's okay. When I explain to someone that it's my first time doing something, they tend to be patient and take time to explain. I took the time to explain things to my client, and it may be useful to you too!
What does my Swedish style massage look like and do for your body?
I provide a private, safe space for a therapeutic experience. I use a massage table, which is comfortable and warm, and my clients lay undressed or in their underwear, between clean sheets and under a blanket. I undrape each part of the body I'm working on, one at a time. I use oil or lotion, which allows my hands to glide over the skin and helps moisturize dry areas.
Swedish style massage uses techniques such as gliding, pushing, squeezing, and compressing the muscles to move blood and lymph, release toxins and adhesions, and relax the muscles. I work all areas of the body, except for the ge****ls. Breast and/or abdominal massage is available upon request. I'm trained in breast massage which works the lymph nodes and muscles of the upper chest. It's great for people who have chest congestion or sluggish lymph.
I hope this helps answer questions for people new to massage therapy! Feel free to bring me any other questions you may have.
