One of my favorite little feeding cues to teach parents

When baby is getting full, you may notice their body start to relax — arms become relaxed, hands open, and that little arm turns into a spaghetti noodle.

Instead of watching the clock or wondering if baby “had enough,” learn to watch your baby.

Their body is often telling you more than the clock ever could.

STOP comparing your pump to an 8 oz bottle.

Seeing an 8 oz bottle does NOT mean you should be pumping 8 oz.

For many breastfeeding parents, pumping 2–4 oz total COMBINED between feeds is completely normal.

That bottle is a container.

Not a goal.

Your pump output does not define your supply, your baby’s intake, or how well you’re doing.

Every drop counts.

As an IBCLC, I love looking beyond the obvious. Teethers aren’t just for soothing sore gums.

They also give babies opportunities to explore textures and practice oral movements like chewing and tongue movement.

These early oral experiences can be one small piece of a baby’s feeding development.
